Maryby moswynComment: If Weston shot in color, he may have photographed this... maybe. |

C'est la Savoy...by TullyComment: The background is a little dark giving a two dimensional look to the subject. |

Lite Pearby KelliComment: This is an excellent black and white photo. I just think it is not really indicative of Weston's work. I think there is too much gaussian blur applied. Weston's subjects and even his backgrounds were really sharp and in focus showing off the details and textures in my opinion. This is a great image that I would otherwise vote higher on in a different challenge. |

AK Steel, Middletown, Ohio 2011by MarjoComment: Great scene really indicative of Weston's work. Lots of action with the smoke billowing out of the smokestacks. Overall I think the image is lacking in tonal range. You did well to limit the highlights, which I think is something Weston did often, but there is not enough shadow and dark tones... mostly mid range tones. Perhaps the contrast could have been bumped up a bit more to help out, or maybe like a red filter applied. Excellent work overall! |

Spring Thawby allisonhComment: I think this is good and something Weston may have photographed. A couple drawbacks to this shot is that the light is even and possibly diffused by cloud cover making the scene fairly grey and even in tone. I think you could have just gotten closer to the main subject to make it better. If Weston were to photograph this, he would have concentrated on the one rock in the foreground. I know this because I am an expert and have studied the master thoroughly! (he says with tongue in cheek!!) |
