generationsby jmritzComment: I gave this one some thought as to why I was voting slightly blow average. I feel the composition is not donw so well. You have the leading line of the guiderail on the left of the photo taking your eye into the lightpost and the garbage can. That seems to be where the focal point is. Then the couple is looking to the right where the action is, and the edge of the photo is right there. Nothing to explain what they are looking at, or even if you couldn't fit that in at least some open space on the right in front of the couple could have helped the viewer to ponder something. As it stands the composition is cut off. I really would have recomposed and put the couple on the left side of the frame. Other than that, the grey scale is good. A fairly high amount of midtones with some darker shadows. No real bright highlights. |

Just the essentialsby bigskyeyeComment: I think you left too much on the left. It's not really needed for content and a shot of just the beer with all that mist on the shelf would have done much, much better. |

the forgottenby disassociationComment: Makes me want to hurl just looking at them... the drab, dark color really sets the mood for this shot. And that mood is disgust! How do you rate a photo that captures ugly?? |

Purple on Purpleby ladpupmoeComment: Excellent sharp detail. Perhaps a little over sharpened, but that is a matter of personal taste. Lovely color and a natural color on color composition. One improvement might be done with the composition. Put the stamen and pistol in the bottom right third of the shot because it appears to be looking up into the sun. |

Apple and two pearsby markwileyComment: This is a good shot and I like the still life idea. You got great colors and it has a very old style or vintage feel. The shot taken from above is ok except for two things. First the composition. It is off center and not really in the third of the frame. I would have gone square crop on this one. Second is the light. The brightest part of the light misses the center of the subject. It is too the right of the subject. which moves the focal point of the shot off of the subject. |
