Broadening Paperclipsby SimonkasprzakComment: The subject is interesting, but the photo isn't crisp enough for me. The black in the corners (round table?) is distracting too. I like the shadows of the paperclips, but this definitely needs better cropping. Lighting is kinda odd too, but to create the shadows I can sort of understand how the bottom left hand corner could get overexposed. Anyway, it meets the challenge and it's a good try so I'm going with a 5. |

Oprylandby rayg544Comment: This photo has a dreamy quality that I just adore! Instead of looking like camera shake it simply looks like a soft filter has been applied leaving a very pleasant scene. Good job! |

Flower and Dewby rayg544Comment: Silk flowers? I see a thread loose in the upper right half of the shot that is a bit distracting, but other than that the colors are crisp, detail is really good, overall a very nice photo indeed :) |

Cute Damienby okiesisiComment: I agree with the others, your photo would've fared better if it'd been a bit bigger. Sweet dog :) I like the emotion conveyed here, the colors could be a little sharper though. Also, I always thought the focus of the picture should be centered, but when I came to DPC I quickly found that off center subjects are much more pleasing to the eye. There's a law of thirds that is really pushed here so that might be something to take into consideration. All in all I think you and I did pretty well for our first submissions! :) Good luck next time! |

Always Posingby OFreasierComment: Originally posted by scrum8: Whats he hanging on with? A little washed out, but I don't know what lighting you had to work with. I might have cropped him more to one side than the other. |
I never really thought about how he was hanging on before! The light inside that place was awful and I was in a crowd being herded past like sheep :P It was an open exhibit and the birds were just *everywhere*. There were signs all around saying to keep away from them for our own safety too! I'm going to go try cropping it differently to make it a bit more interesting :) Thanks! |

36Bby DiscraftComment: This was one of the best in the challenge I thought. Fantastic composition and lighting, should've made at *least* the top 10. Those who gave it a 1 (2 friggin people!) should be taken out and flogged... |

Tandemby scrum8Comment: Well if these are the kinds of shots I'll be able to hope for with a Rebel then I'm going to have to go back to work so I can afford one :) This was, of course, the first shot that caught my eye when I began looking at your portfolio. This really should've placed higher... |

Mini-Bearby scrum8Comment: Okay, if you aren't a nature photographer by trade then you should be! You've got a fantastic eye and so many of the photos I've seen in your portfolio are just breathtaking. I love the detail in the log as well as the little...furry thing, whatever it is, it's cute! :) |
