Comfortedby shoylesComment: Not sure why this shot needed validation. Oh well. I really like this. I'm trying to get into children photography at the moment and it's tough work. You've captured a beautiful moment and eveything works. I like that the colors are overall realtively muted and almost tone in tone (not really, but there's nothing that jumps out) and just the eyes as a contrast. Have you contemplated giving them just a tad more of a color boost? I'd also be interested to see this as a high-key with just the blue eyes and the rest b&w. This is one of the shots that works in many different ways and just invites playing around in photoshop I think. Godd work :) |

Those lazy days of summer......by nordicComment: I'm a sucker for unusual flower shots, this one is beautiful! The toning works great, and I like that all flowers except the one that draws the eye are photographed from the side and are muted. Very nice work. |

Discoveryby dsrayComment: Those kind of shots are hard to do - I've tried myself. But they do make good memories, don't they? While I like the idea and the concept, it is distrating to me that the lady and the little boy are overexposed and not quite in focus. |

First Stepsby PoobaComment: These are very cute shoes. I like that they look worn both in the design but also the tarnish. I wonder if some other lighting (rather than straight on) could've given more depth to this shot, and stopped the shoes from melting into the background. Also, since this is an advanced editing challenge, I would have darkened the background at the top to make it all black rather than with some dark blue areas. |

A View from the Stillnessby JoviComment: You have an image with lots of potential here, using the arch to frame your shot, and the selective desaturation of the traffic is also an interesting idea. In my mind, the shortcomings of this shot are that there is too much dark in the shot, especially since the arch seems to have some very detailed and colorful paintings. Also, overall evertyhiong seems a bit soft, and the guy with the flag doesn't hold my interest (maybe because I don't know his role or significance). I also just notice that part of the sky in the image seems to have been erased, while some of it is still there, I would've thought leaving it there would've been fine. |

Pregnant Pauseby jpochardComment: I have to confess that I like your entry for the Waiting challenge much better than this one. The waiting one really focuses the viewer on the hands and the belly. I understand that most people, when they have photos done obviously want to have their heads in the shot, too :) I guess when I look at this, the hands look too posed, and while I understand that they both are looking at the belly, they both have rather sad looks on their faces which is in big contrast with the joyous event of having a baby. I do like the b&w treatment here, but could also see just a bit of toning work well, it could give the photo a slightler warmer feel. Just my thoughts of course. I've only just started to do portrait photography (well, really just one time) and I never thought it would be as hard work as it was! |

Inflorescenceby KonadorComment: I hope you don't get hammered too much by the "but there's almost nothing in focus" voter. I think this is a stunning image of an every-day object. I especially like the petals to the right, I wonder if this would be an even stronger shot if you cropped a bit off the top since the top left part of the image has virtually no texture or shadow to speak off. |

Heartby pitsamanComment: One of my top picks. I simply love the simplicity of this, the luminosity of the leaf that lets us see every little vein and the curved stem that it is growing on. All very well complemented by the black background. Beautiful work. Well worth making available as a print, would work well as a card, too. |

14th Street, NYCby dimitriiComment: Unfortunately, the sun overpowers everything and there isn't much that I can see from what's going on on 14th Street, therefore the image doesn't hold my attention long. |
