Alone on the roadby ColeyComment: The pose seems forced; perhaps if the model was walking it would seem more natural. Being on the crest of the hill, there is only the merest suggestion of a road; showing a long stretch of empty road would have conveyed more feeling of loneliness. Sorry to be critical. |

May we talk?by mclaren_chooComment: A very dramatic sky (judicious application of curves could increase the contrast and make it even more dramatic), and the silhouetted streetlights add an element of interest. I like this photo. But I don't see much relevance to the challenge. |

Dead Treeby divineinspirationComment: There are leaves, so I wouldn't call it "dead", just "dormant". It's shape contrasts well with the sky, but the effect is diluted by the low contrast of this image, which to me doesn't do anything to help the image. |

Lonerby seabrookComment: The bird is blurry which makes him hard to see. Cropping off the piling at the right edge would have given a stronger feeling of loneliness, as would shooting from a lower angle to get more of the open ocean (assume there weren't any boats or other birds). |

"the LAST NuTby tfarrell23Comment: Good macro shot with good composition and focus, although I personally think unsalted peanuts are more photogenic. But although the peanut is certainly alone, I just don't get a feeling of loneliness or solitude. I want to eat the nut and go search for another bag. |

I'm getting sleeeeeepyby wickedpeteComment: Great macro shot with perfect focus, excellent composition, and good lighting. He may be all alone, but I just don't get a feeling of loneliness or solitude. |

Breakdownby TooCoolComment: The stark composition, low key, and the model's pose and nudity do suggest a breakdown and the loneliness associated with it. Not a pretty photo, but a moving one. |

Alone In A Crowdby ScottKComment: I don't know about loneliness or solitude, but the rock is certainly all alone. The stark contrast in tone, texture, and shape make this a striking photo. The symmetric composition works well. It's too bad the one face of the rock is burned out; the exposure for the rest of the image is perfect. Perhaps turning it slightly would have helped. |
