Treesby AlanBesComment: Interesting textures and lines, but lacks a center of interest. |

Amtrakby robbiehComment: Lots of leading lines, but they lead to the very edge of the photo, which isn't the interesting part. |

Termite nest on Palm Trunkby NodeComment: All the lines lead to where the fronds extend from the trunk. This photo would be a lot more interesting if that point was in focus. |

Waters Edge...by TerramarComment: The lines lead to the post, which is also the only element in focus. Good technique. If only the post was more interesting to look at, this would be a nice photo. |

If Only.......by singsunshineComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
Despite some technical flaws, this is a good photo. Creative idea, nicely set up, and well composed. The main problem with it is the lighting. A light box is an effective method for creating a shadowless white background. But the front lighting isn't strong enough here to compete with the light box, making the subject too dark and giving it a strange color cast. It also gives a flat appearance to an obviously 3-dimensional object. |

Nice colors here. Focus is on the design in the fishbowl, and the shallow DOF puts the face a bit out of focus, but that works OK here. Exposure is great, making a nice low key background with subtle detail. Composition isn't bad, but I find the bright arc at the top distracting. I think it would work better if a bit was cropped off the top, showing the bottom parts of the arc on either side but leaving the the middle connecting part to the viewer's imagination.
Although technically fine and initially interesting, this picture really doesn't hold my attention. It meets the challenge, and is certainly not a bad photo, but not a very memorable one either. I look at it, think "cool photo", then go on to something else. |

Incognitoby kking9Comment: Great use of color, and very humorous! Not really a bird, but perhaps close enough... |
