Waiting For The Ride Not Takenby dwedekingComment: Good day! You're the recipient of a "critique club" critique! So feel free to take this with a grain of salt :D
First Impression: I like the emptiness and the feeling of abandonment, but the shot seems a tad light.
Composition: I like the composition, I might have cropped out a little of the sand in the foreground, since it's not as interesting as the waves, but that's a very minor point. However, I do agree with the commentors -- the leg on the side is very distracting. If you wanted to get the sense of someone walking in the picture, I think you would have needed a little more of the person. It would have been better to crop it out, however.
Subject: Interesting subject, I liked the little bit of red on it.
Technical: As I mentioned, it seems light to me--I think it would have benefited by some increased contrast by playing with curves or levels. The shallow depth of field works for the waves -- I like the softness, but the blur of the sand in the foreground doesn't add much to the picture, I might have cropped that in a tad.
Final thoughts: Fun shot, nice softness, good choice of subject matter. Some adjustments in the contrast/cropping might strengthen it. Very evocative title! |

The Green, Green Grass of Home.by CLeeComment: But where's that old oak tree that I used to play on?
Beautiful!! Truly lovely! I'll have to fav it to study it more. This is how you take a normal nature shot and make it art. |

Allureby IndigoButterflyComment: This is lovely. The flowers on the right are so interesting, that I would have liked this better with just those; they're more ethereal and just plain beautiful! Nicely done. |

The Hungeringby Adamsw216Comment: Fun little guy! I love the warmth and the face. If possible, getting down a little lower to be even more on his level would really make this outstanding. Very nicely done as is, however! |

Childhood Memories...Summer Vacation 2009by GrayEllaComment: to be honest, I'm not sure that the post and the rope are that interesting of a subject. It doesn't have much character to it. However, it blurs remarkably beautiful! The two posts in the distance and the distant grasses have such a dream-like quality to them. I wish the front post could somehow be a little less prominent.
Lovely colors, lovely background, and very good choice of title. -7- |

Together They Leapby jasonlpriceComment: fun shot, wonderful expressions, trepidation, excitement? However, there seems to be a strange glow around them, and it's a tad oversaturated. -7- |

Autumn Reflectionby jegerComment: Loved this when I saw your other one. Very cool idea. For some reason I want the leaves on the ground in focus as well, but it's not affecting the vote one way or another. -8- |

Old tractorby tinkie2010Comment: Comment:
Good day! You're the recipient of a "critique club" critique! So feel free to take this with a grain of salt :D
First Impression: The colors do make a strong first impression - I happen to like saturation. However, with the HDR, I feel that it's flattened the image out a little too much. I think it would have benefited from a little more contrast.
Composition: I like the composition--I like the choice of not including the entire tractor. I would have been curious what it would have looked like including the front wheel, but I do like your choice of composition.
Subject: Very good choice of subject.
Technical: As I mentioned, I would have liked a little more contrast to give the image a little more interest. Also, I feel that the steering wheel being soft is distracting. I liked the shallow depth of field to blur the background, but with such a prominent placement, it feels a little awkward having the steering wheel blurry. One other consideration: you might want to play around with the crop a little. It might be a stronger picture if you cropped down from the top--the structure in the upper left corner tends to draw the eye without adding much to the overall image.
Final thoughts: Fun shot, nice colors, good choice of subject matter for the challenge. Some adjustments in the contrast/cropping might strengthen it. |

Snowy The Horseby SteveJComment: I love the snow on the whiskers. My mother-in-law in Minnesota has horses, and I've always wanted to capture a shot like this when they're all iced or snowed up! Fun shot! |

Bars, Boards, & Blinds...by NikonJebComment: I do love windows -- they can be so interesting! Fun capture, nicely done. I always look forward to what old you'll find next; it's a genre that I really enjoy and you do it so well. |
