Covered Bridgeby FarmrComment: I have a few problems with the composition of this shot. The trees hold the most interest in the shot, but they're not very interesting. I think I would have liked it cropped in a bit more to bring the focus on the bridge. I'm also wondering whether it would have been more interesting seeing the creek or depression that the bridge is spanning instead of the trees to the side.
Last thought -- did you try flipping the image horizontally? Sometimes having the subject on the left gives it a little more prominence and draws the eye more.
(edited to change it to subject on left instead of right!) |

Le Mont Saint-Michel by gyabanComment: Wonderful! I love the negative space on the right. I wish we could have larger sizes for landscape orientation. I bet this would be much more spectacular at around 1400 pixels! |

Framed Towersby ronaldfwComment: The church is marvelous and the reflection is great. Unfortunately, the item on the right (I'm sorry, I can't even tell what it is) is distracting; I don't think it adds to the picture, only detracts. I'd be interested in seeing what it looks like cropped in a little from the left and cropped in significantly from the right. 5 as is, but I think it could have been as much as a 7 with a different crop. |

A Creek To Followby StagoleeComment: I love the sky, but I think the composition of splitting the photo basically in half both halves less important. It might be stronger if you placed the horizon at the top 1/3. You'd still retain much of the interesting sky, but it would also give more importance to the creek. |

Shenandoahby SJCarterComment: Well done. I find haze shots difficult to do, and I really like your mountains. The foreground seems very muddy. Did you try shadows and highlights to try to gain some detail? |

Suez Canalby KliopatraComment: My first thought on this photo was: interesting. Second thought: extremely busy. I would have loved to see a shot from the beach with just a few of the beach umbrellas in the foreground and the ship in the distance. Strangely enough, the light pole in the foreground is very distracting. Surprises me, because it's not particularly glaring or anything, but it keeps drawing my eye. |

Swan Lakeby silverscreenComment: There are many times that I like an animal pushing the limits of the frame, but with the swan, I think it ended up looking squished.
In this photo the swan is by far the most interesting part. I love the set of his wings and the darker water with the reflection. Unfortunately, the rest pales in comparison and overwhelms the image. The sky is a large part of the photo, but doesn't hold any interest. It ends up centering the tree, which I think would have been better off not centered. Sorry, it just doesn't work, imo. |

tower roadby SkipComment: The photograph is done well enough, but there just isn't anything here to catch my interest, imo. Perhaps the addition of a person walking farther down the road would have given it a little more interest? |
