I can see why someone thinks the run in the stocking is distracting -- it is -- yet it's so perfect. It makes turns it from a regular (but nice) photograph into a great story. You and jbrobeson are right, however. The shoes should have been more worn. Not that it's a problem in this photo -- but just because, if the shoes were worn and there was a run in the stockings, you probably would have had a picture that was an instant classic.
