Soul drainby sarampoComment: oh this is so very cool, and awesome lighting, but the crop really is giving me a hard time. 9 with either getting the feet, or cropping it up on the jeans more. Showing just a hint of them makes it look like a mistake instead of a conscious decision.
Also, I adore negative space, but it doesn't work for me on this one. I would have loved having more space for the soul to sink into. Or even less space for the soul to move out of the frame. But the large amount of negative space on the left just shows that the space on the right is rather conventional. The combination of the two doesn't work.
That being said, the lighting, the position, the rest is truly wonderful. |

happy feetby AbraComment: Originally posted by Abra: I knew this wouldn't be well received but it didn't occur to me that this wouldn't be associated with the musical. I have entered many times shots that are DNMC but this wasn't meant to be one. I see Emperor Penguins then Elvis and Queen songs fill my head. I wish it got the brown though. |
You have to have seen it to be able to associate it. I got the reference, but having never seen it, it brought no music to mind. Still simply beautiful, though. I'm glad you entered it, because I'm pleased to have seen it. :) |

happy feetby AbraComment: Really beautiful. The two on the left are simply stunning. But no matter how much I love penguins, I just don't hear the music. I'm so sorry. I wish I did. I can't mark it down too much, though, because it's wonderful. |

old schoolby NeatComment: Ok. My first thought was that I couldn't hear this. But then I waiting for a second and I heard the awful, awful slowing down and distortion of the music before the awful noises that the player made. I don't know that I call it music -- but I definitely heard stuff! Brilliant. |

in my eyesby jmritzComment: Drat drat drat. I read this originally as "In her eyes". And for the rest of the day, I was singing the Beatles song.
And in her eyes you see nothing
No sign of love behind the tears
Cried for no one
A love that should have lasted years
And then I checked the lyrics, because I couldn't remember the whole thing and I saw this, and it was even more brilliant.
You stay home, she goes out
She says that long ago she knew someone but now he's gone
She doesn't need him
But then I realized that it wasn't that title at all! And I felt cheated! But really, between the title and the photo, I heard music more than any other photo. 9 from me. |

decrescendoby skewsmeComment: This works for me. I hear the music in this one. I assume you're getting hit by some, but I hope there are others that can hear it. |
