-red-dahlia-by sfaliceComment: Interesting technique to darken the edges -- it looks way better than the usual light haloing which results from heavy sharpening.
I think I have a recent frame-filling shot of a rose which might benefit from this treatment ... I'll have to try and find it. |

Spicebush Swallowtailby MaryOComment: I really like the little splash of color in the otherwise muted tones -- framing/composition looks great to me ... |

Anenomesby pixelpigComment: Yes, I like this idea of three views of the same flower -- I will undoubtedly be borrowing the concept sometime soon. :-)
I think I'd have put the bunch on the bottom, so that there's a progressive "zooming in" effect -- though maybe you were trying to avoid that ... |

IMG_2744.jpgby ZippyComment: Nice bud -- probably a couple of hours older than the one in my shot.
I bet these would make a superb subject for time-lapse! |

IMG_7026 Love Lies Bleeding.jpgby drydocComment: Well, the color should give a hint to the name origin ... a like the real contrast between the subject and the background -- makes it really stand out. |

Naked-Lady-triptychby sfaliceComment: I like the way you've maintained the saturation on the petals. I tried to shoot some of these last week but they were too washed-out to be useful.
If you use the title you've printed on the layout you should get more search-result hits ... ;-) |

Dent de Lionby GeneralEComment: Originally posted by drydoc: General, You undoubtedly have the most unique entries of all! From dead to dandelion. Gotta love it.
I am amazed at the aperture, ISO, and shutter speeds you employ. |
Thanks!
I confess I don't pay much attention to the aperture setting -- I prioritize ISO first because my camera sensor is so noisy, then shutter-speed to (usually) minimize the blur. I let the camera set the aperture, unless I have a composition where it's essential to control the DOF more than the noise.
In the case of this dandelion, I had some slack in the shutter-speed because of bright, late-afternoon sunlight. If I had seen how this would come out -- I was in the parking lot on my way home from work -- I might have opened the aperture more to further blur the fence, though that might also have made the foreground too OOF for some folks. |
