Butterfly Fantasy by dsidwellComment: Originally posted by paganini: I knew these were fake butterfly, hence the 2 vote, you can tell by looking at the perfect colors of the butterfly wings, which doesn't happen in nature, also the edges of the wings, looks like it's CUT from paper.
We already have what, a ton of photos with hue adjustments and shifted colors FOR NATURE shots (which i consider blasphemous), but this one is worse. It's just like spot editing an image by inserting elements that weren't there before. I don't care for other shots, but for nature shots I'd expect real photographs, not fake ones. |
This wasn't a "Nature" challenge, it was a COLOR challenge. I see it as a "real photograph" of a variety of objects in the colors specified... |

Primary Rosesby kiwinessComment: I also came across some Blue Roses a couple of weeks ago, but was too chicken to submit to the Flora challenge. The ones I saw have crystals on the edges of the petals as if they'd used a sugar solution to dye them...your's look a little blown-out on the edges of the blue petals -- maybe a light diffuser would help there (my flower photo has a similar problem...sigh). |

Witch - Craftby BeetleComment: It could be done within the DPC rules, but the vignette would be exactly centered instead of a little off like I have it, and would take a lot more experimenting to get right. Basic technique is to SelectAll, Border (with a big value like 60 pixels), Feather a large amount, and then fill with black. The color change is tone curves applied to the RGB and Blue channels.
Quick re-do: DPC-Legal |

Point No Point Lighthouseby robbiehComment: I am definitely not a color expert, but I took the liberty of experimenting with your image to see if I could "do something about the weather."

Yuck, this isn't Dandy!by SonifoComment: This might have been the only challenge where firing the flash to intentionally get the red-eye effect would have worked... |
