Lazy Sunday Afternoon by cheekymunkyComment: Not that it's a bad thing, but the lighting and the reflection make this almost look like a painted backdrop like in a movie. Looks like a great place ... easy to imagine being there. |

Cottage by the Winter Marsh — Herring Riverby Bear_MusicComment: I appreciate the additional explanation about the crop on the right. I think what "bothers" me about that is that, with the smaller room a perfect rectangle shot square-on, too much attention is now drawn to the "missing" cottage off the right edge, rather than to the junction/relationship of the cottage to the marsh, which you state is the primary subject.
Had you been standing just a couple of feet to the right so that you keep essentially the same composition but with a very slight perspective of the cottage wall receding into the marsh it would soften the impact of the missing building.
Since the topic was Architecture, I'm sure a lot of people just expected you to concentrate on the building. Still, I voted on the high side of the bell curve ... |

San Francisco Conservatory at Golden Gate Parkby whagerbaumerComment: I'm not sure it needed to be cropped that tightly, but the panoramic look certainly emphasizes the size and spread of the building -- very nice. DPC size restrictions do somewhat limit the effectiveness of panoramic crops.
For some reason this version looks darker too -- I might try to lighten it a touch. Message edited by author 2005-01-24 20:36:35. |

Wentworth Invertedby ArcanistComment: In this case the inversion gives it very much the look of an illustration, which works well in this context. |

Ice Cyclesby poeticphotoComment: Those are really interesting -- as you point out, most of us have never encountered (or looked for) these.
If your camera has a time-lapse feature, it be fantastic to shoot this window every few minutes through the night and watch them grow ... easy to make the series of frames into a movie. |
