It's awesome that you have access this stuff.

Actually, it was a fortunate coincidence that this State Forensics Lab just happened to have their "Friends and Family" day (Open House/Tour) during this challenge period, and my cousin works there. Normally, I expect access is quite restricted.

No, those are real hands in front of the monitor -- legal under Basic rules today too. That's one thing which made it difficult to shoot; I had to both operate the camera (no remote) and get in position to "model" for the hands where they and the monitor would have the proper size and DOF relationship.

The reflected color was really ugly -- that's one reason I chose to make the water gray.

Yeah, that's the streetlight pole the pinwheels are mounted on. The shot with the "best" blur(?) had that angle -- the ones which missed the pole were either too blurry, not blurry enough, or had some other problem ...

I feel much the same, though I don't think I noticed the noise as much the first time I looked at it.

That's what I thought at first too ... there was a recent thread about a genre of photos where you take a real object/scene and try to make it look as though it was shot with models/props -- this photo is a pretty good example. Nice work!

Nice effect -- if you shot this from your car, you might want to submit it to the Windscreen Photo Gallery.

From that spot I think you might have been able to make it a one-rail shot off the far end, but three-rails makes a nice effect : )

Hopefully you'll reveal how many attempts this took ... and whether the Eight-ball went in ....
