The Buck Stops Hereby GeneralEComment: Originally posted by lepidus: Nice take on the challenge with 10 dimes. I would have gone with more of a deep DOF. |
The shallow DOF was chosen to reinforce the metaphor stated in the title, that the further down the chain of command you go, the fuzzier and more diffuse the responsibilities become ... |

Left & Right in Black & Whiteby GeneralEComment: Originally posted by meanwile: I like the idea. I guess the 'artwork' rules were different at this time? |
No, those are real hands in front of the monitor -- legal under Basic rules today too. That's one thing which made it difficult to shoot; I had to both operate the camera (no remote) and get in position to "model" for the hands where they and the monitor would have the proper size and DOF relationship. |

Light Up The Waterby GeneralEComment: Originally posted by mad_brewer: Nice reflection on the water; it would have nice if it matched the colors of the fireworks. |
The reflected color was really ugly -- that's one reason I chose to make the water gray. |

New, Improved, Graduated RD (Rainbow Density) Filterby GeneralEComment: Originally posted by karmabreeze: Interesting idea. The door frame(?) at the left side is distracting, leave the composition looking unbalances. |
Yeah, that's the streetlight pole the pinwheels are mounted on. The shot with the "best" blur(?) had that angle -- the ones which missed the pole were either too blurry, not blurry enough, or had some other problem ... |

Colors in Motionby sherpetComment: Originally posted by karmabreeze: I like it as an abstract, but it would benefit from a sweep through Neat Image to eliminate much of the noise artifacts. |
I feel much the same, though I don't think I noticed the noise as much the first time I looked at it. |

Fog of Warby jbeazellComment: Originally posted by glad2badad: This almost looks like a toy setup. At first, from the thumbnail, I thought it was. |
That's what I thought at first too ... there was a recent thread about a genre of photos where you take a real object/scene and try to make it look as though it was shot with models/props -- this photo is a pretty good example. Nice work! |

Money Shotby hensonblComment: From that spot I think you might have been able to make it a one-rail shot off the far end, but three-rails makes a nice effect : )
Hopefully you'll reveal how many attempts this took ... and whether the Eight-ball went in .... |
