Good choice of location to make the composition, and good timing to catch it there. Wish there had been a little more light on the engine/foreground; I understand rescheduling trains is not always an option : )

Perfect time, perfect place. The drawing at the wall makes it complete. The fact they're both looking at the other way adds to the atmosphere.
Nice job :)

Almost word-for-word what I was going to write before I scrolled down the page. : )

This spread is pretty interesting:

Here's the reworked version, which I'm pretty sure would have done better with the DPC voters:

Thanks for the comments!

Since this was a tribute to a cartoon, I felt it appropriate to try and give it a cartoony appearance, especially after I saw how bad the original looked (see below). I also wanted to add an element of unreality by having the shrimp obviously real.

If I had had more time available I would have looked for a better background than the wood, but I was quite rushed when I took this, I think in the last hour before submission time. I was originally going to do this with a T rex, but I couldn't find my son's toy dinosaur collection in time; Jar Jar was a compromise.

Some of my best sunsets have powerlines too -- if I can't avoid them, I try to incorporate them into the composition as you have.
