In the thumbnail size especially it does look like a deer/fawn, with the mouth taking the place of the underside of the neck -- the teeth are not really distinguishable in the small size. Maybe if you darkened the inside of the mouth and the lower lip a little it would be clearer.

I also think the B&W high-key treatment is appropriate for this image, lending it a sense of motion/dynamism which suits the subject.

The blur is OK, but I think the dog's tongue is unlikely to be in that position at that speed, at least without drops of dog slobber flying arround : )

I've never seen flat-track roller derby before -- is that a new trend?

If that wisp of hair running past the corner of her mouth were moved over (or removed) you'd have an even nicer yin/yang effect.

The gritty/grainy feel works really well here.

Sometimes if I want to accentuate the grain/noise and I'm planning to end up with a B&W, I'll just copy the Blue Channel to a new Grayscale image.

Reminiscent of the scene near the end of Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey ... very nice effect.

Whenever I try motion-panning on animals, I find I'm zoomed-in too far and can't get them in the frame with any reliability. With more MP available to you, I suggest pulling back to a little more wide-angle setting and cropping in later -- that's certainly what I'm planning next time I'm trying it.
