I like the photo for the patterns created by the merchandise and shelves. I like how the clerk (Kassim) is in the middle of it all. As I'm wandering and exploring the pic, made me laugh to read the sign "hookahs not bazoukas." :) A nice "my corner of the world" kinda pic.

The image is well done. The colors are rich; focus is great; HDR? The composition is balanced, nice symmetry. Well presented image, 7. With that said, I just don't find a "compelling story" behind the photo. Maybe if this was taken say five years ago, I would have said wow. But the subject of a soldier on Saddam's throne seems over done. It seems every soldier/contractor who's been deployed has the obligatory pic on the throne and there are hundreds of pics of someone on the throne (albeit not well done as this image). I guess the casual pose doesn't give me a sense of a "compelling story." Just this viewer's opinion...

Great shot. Like the low point of view. Like how you framed him and included the sidewalk and surrounding environment to give the image context; good DOF. Even without the title, the image has a compelling story behind it. One of a few 10's from me. I think this should ribbon.

I find this photo very compelling in that I want to know what his story is about. The guy is interesting in that he seems very happy, but I wonder what the story is behind the tattooed words on his chest up to his neck. The lower POV view is great/different. The person framed by the two horses adds to his "story." Great choice to go B&W. One of my few 10's and one of my favorites in this challenge. Hoping for this to ribbon. Please give us the story behind him in your notes.
