Love is in the stars - The Big Dipperby HauxonComment: Comment:
Greetings from the Critique Club...
COMPOSITION... I love this photo, and am a big sucker for night shots in general. The fact that the aurora was faint and not at the angle you would have like does not distract from the beauty at all. The leaning shed takes up the appropriate amount of space, allowing a huge amount of clear sky. The big dipper takes a backseat to the aurora as well it should.
TECHNIQUE... This is a wonderfully captured night shot. The shed has enough light so as not be be dark, but not so much that it distracts from the scene.
OVERALL.. You have met the challenge nicely, and the photo itself is nicely done. The expanse of sky is very dramatic, the aurora shows up well and the stars are wonderful. I am sorry this critique is not more detailed. There is really nothing I would change, nothing you could have done to improve this photograph. I gave it a 10 during voting.

Lisa sr pics-3684.jpgby griz210Comment: This is a beautiful portrait. The lighting is soft and gentle and makes her skin glow. her expression is perfect, just the hint of a Mona Lisa smile. This is a capture you should be very proud of. Beautiful model by the way! |

Left holding the baby!by wingyisleedsComment: This guy does indeed look forlorn. As far as a candid shot goes its a pretty good catch. In black and white it looks a bit muddy, I wonder what the color original looked like. I am glad you did not crop out the legs and feet at the top of the photo, they help tell the story. |

They LOVE her!by quindeComment: Greetings from the Critique Club...
COMPOSITION... You definitely fit this week's theme, I can tell immediately what the love in this photo is. I am sure she must feed them every day, and they look forward to it. The composition is very good for this being a captured moment and not a set-up shot. The people watching the action in the background are a little bit annoying as they distract a bit from the action.
TECHNIQUE... The colors are a bit bright in spots, and everything looks a little over sharpened. It does help to separate the woman and the birds from the background, but also makes thing look a little bit "unreal" as though it were a picture in a comic book. This is not necessdarily a bad thing, especially if this is the look you were going for.
OVERALL.. This photo made me smile. This is the type of thing we see all the time, but you have brought it to life. You timing was perfect, the pieces of food captured mid flight makes this a true moment captured in time. This is a photo that I like alot, thank you for submitting.

I Hate Winterby JawnyRicoComment: Greetings from the Critique Club...
COMPOSITION... You definitely fit this week's theme, most of us can definately relate to hating the cold and the snow. Your subject is very nicely placed, and very strong. A very slight amount of sepia coloring was a good choice for this photo.
TECHNIQUE... Self portraits can be tricky to do, and you have pulled this one off nicely. The slight anominity by having the cap pulled over your face adds an air of mystery that is refreshing on a self portrait.
OVERALL.. You have met the challenge nicely, and the photo itself is nicely done. The expanse of snow, as well as the fence tend to isolate the subject, and there is no question what is running through his mind. I like this photo, but it does lack a little impact. Although the subject and the rest of the photo work well together, I am left wanting more.
