Greetings from the Critique Club:

I wrote you a very long and detailed critique, but the demons in my computer ate it, so lets start again.

This image has a few strengths, The symetry is wonderful, not only in the brick work, the columns and the piers, but also in the trees fading into the distance. Its almost like a mirror image. The scene is very tranquil, from the ripples on the water it appears that there is a slight breeze blowing. It is a very calming photograph.

This photograph meets the challenge. It works, but not at the highest levels viewers may be looking for. The voters want to be challenged. They want to see a photograph that makes they wonder how you could have captured such an image. Your colors seem muted. There is nothing here that draws the eye and shouts "I am the subject of this photo". Perhaps if you had a brightly dressed person, maybe even a child, sitting on the bench or leaning against one of the pillers.

From the scores this photo received (no 1's or 2's, and also no 9's or 10's) it seems that no one loved or hated it. It is a difficult photo to be passionate about in either direction.

This critique is just my humbnle opinion, and I hope you found it helpful in some small way.

This is stunningly beautiful. There is nothing quite like early early morning light. I love love to have a chance to see a sky like that.

This too is wonderful. This looks like liquid silver, very much metallic while still being liquid. You have a marvoleous eye for detail.

Hi, Greetings from the Critique Club:

Composition: Very strong composition, maybe because it is so simple. The few lines, bend of her wrist, shape of her stomach, all lead the eye directly to the subject ice cube.

Technical: The lighting is perfect on this image, from the light directly on her fingers, to the light on her stomach, to the light that seems to be coming from inside the ice cube.. Very well done. The color temperature give it a very sensual feeling that compliments the subject very well.

Overall: I think you captured the image exactly how you saw it in your minds eye. This is an image you should be very proud of.

Hi, Greetings from the Critique Club:

Composition: The composition of this photo is one of its strongest points. The shoreline is a very strong diagional leading line and it leads the eye direstly to the main subject. The red lighthouse is an awesome subject, vibrant where the rest of the photo has a very somber feel to it.

Technical: The technical post processing is very well done. You have managed to bring out the darkness of the sky, the brightness of the lighthouse, but still kept the whiteness of the snow. You might have sacrificed a little of the detail in the snow though, it does seems a little bit washed out.

Overall: I feel you were on the right track...and you knew what you wanted. Overall this is a powerful image and one you should be proud of. Good luck and happy shooting.

Greetings from tyhe Critique Club.

This is a wonderful sunset photo, the colors are brilliant and range all the way from the darkest red to pale blue. You have captured alot of detail in the clouds.

The one thing that I wish I coulkd change is the lack if detail in the foreground. Setsets are beautiful things, but without some sense of place or feel for where it was taken, they pretty much become all the same. If I stare at the photograph lonf enougn I can see the horizon, but nothing at all below that. My personal choice would be to sacrifice a bit of the rich color of the sky to obtain more detail in the foreground.

For other situations like this, a half neutral density filter might just block some on th light on the top half of the photo, and alow mire light on the bpttom. I am jusy making an educated guess, but it might be worth playing with.

This is an interesting photo, reflections that becom the main subject of the photograph. I love the building and the tree reflections, but the sign is a little distracting. The puddles edge, where the snow is, is a very nice touch, it gives some sense of reality to an otherwise "fantasy" photo.

The colors do seem a little flat and the photo could use a little more zing. If this was my photo, I would play with the contract and the color balance just a little bit to add the missing ingredient.

Overall this is a very good photograph, but it lacks punch and that gives it too much of a snapshot feel. Very good try, I suggest you might wantto play with this idea a bit more. I look for a future Monet from you.
