i like the idea, but the dogs leg just showing up there gives the impression that it is dismemebered... well, not really, obviously, but it seem disembodied and out of place.

i really dont think the b&w works in this case - it is very gray and washed out. the cropping is also awkward, where you lose the front of her chair, and the composition is very busy. I also feel no connection to the subject - she is blending in with all the gray tones and you can actually see enough of her... i would have liked some "face" or some eye contact.
