The guy on the right is the anchor to the scene.

There were flowers in front of me but I think it is lens flare. Sun is to my right and I am clear of the building. The lens hood wasn't in place. It shows only on this frame. I think I lucked out.

I like the oddness of this one - I wonder how a contrasty monochrome with some burnt edges might look...

This image has caused me to stop and pay attention. That means it is in my 7-10 voting band. (Voted earlier)

Additionally, it is highly interesting/eclectic meaning it keeps me here long enough to offer a longer comment and a vote of 8 or more.

This is one of my 10s - I like it very much. Furthermore I think it enriches the DPC collective portfolio. Put simply, I wish we saw more stuff like this. Let me tell you why it pushes all the right buttons for me:

1. Supreme clarity and focus on your subject
2. Gorgeous colours - look at that read
3. The synergy of lighting and subject
4. The separation of your subject from the background people
5. The overall sense of being there.

Really lovely stuff. Like Mark Wiley's eye. I wonder if it is.

1. Real life moments are always a delight to behold
2. That delight is part of the moment
3. That high fidelity doesn't get in the way of humanity.
4. The imperfections make the shot: the slight blur, the grain/noise, the pushed tones.

Overall, much more than the sum of its parts.

1. This looks so perfect to me that I wonder whether it is actually a painting - I've never seen the like of of this on DPC before.
2. Astonishing lighting
3. The whole sense of grandeur
4. The restrained colour palette
5. The details in the shadows

Overall, a staggering image to have constructed - normally I'd have been put off by the tone mapping and what appears to be smoothed skin but the overall paintingesque effect emerges from those choices so I can't claim it doesn't work. Very interested to find out who shot this.
