Wind farmby edmengComment: Fabulous image. Masterful given the fixed nature of the exposure time. |

The ONLY Hopeby klkitchensComment: I've come back to edit my feedback here - I think my take during the challenge was a bit reactionary, so apologies for that. Granted I'm not a fan of religiously themed images but I should have put that to one side. I had commented that I didn't think that much going on photographically; probably because it didn't hold my interest due to my prejudice. On reflection, the combination of the letters and the symbol is effective; as is the framing used.
I think the lighting is perhaps a little flat and I wonder how the scene would look with low light source pointed in from the side; I would agree that some better clarity of the texture in the wood would have improved the image.
Since post my initial comments, I've been bothered my I how intolerant I must've appeared - so I have had a growing need to come back and rectify that.
There's no doubt you had a clear vision with this image and you have executed it well and reading other comments here, you struck a chord with many a member. Message edited by author 2009-03-24 17:33:19. |

Going For The Brown...Ribbon That Is...by maxxumgComment: The depleted roll, though aptly supported by a title likely to appeal to the DPC faithful, presents the viewer with a visual metaphor of the current economic climate - depleted and frankly, already down the pan. The roll holder itself, not flush with the wall and looking badly made, offers us great insight; for it, like the world economy, has never really been secure has it? - with this image you show us that while the roll was full of fluffy softness, this fundamental flaw was concealed behind paper.... how clever, the depth of your metaphor reveals the depth of your photography genius - I see it now, the toilet paper analogous with the worthless financial paper which represented so many pyramidal derivatives and hedge fund betting slips. And the final twist, how cleverly you communicate it - we are left knowing, truly knowing, that in the end the roll was bound to run out!
Pure genius! Such vision.........
(......but a crap photo - I give it a 1!)
(Who am I to ruin your bid for the noble brown?!!!) |
