This is a really nice image but I know this can look better - just a tad more contrast and perhaps a little more exposure, sharpening and saturation would bring this alive. There is a similar flower in the April FS and had I not seen that one, I might just praise this lovely image but as it is I think there is some more untapped potential here.

Yes - the white area above the yellow centre puzzled me before I realised it was a petal on the other side that has curved up and inward.

You are absolutely right about the bright dots below - I should've spent more time looking at this in editing.

Nice treatment on the flowers but I suspect the border is probably a love it or hate it thing. I'm afraid I'm in the latter group.

I do find my eye flicking between the two flowers - I'm not sure this is a good thing...

I like this a lot but I think the top left quadrant is a bit too pronounced; perhaps a slightly more conservative crop where the blown background highlight sits in the top left corner would have been more effective?

Nice image - and I se the dilemma you have with the halo / hairs appearance. I don't think it leaves you with much room for fixing the appearance.
