Busy Life in Silhouetteby rlewisComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: I really like this - the silhouette (and partials) are just right, the background nice and sparkly and I like that we can tell they have a purposeful stride.
Critical stuff: You know I'm going to mention the rail at the bottom right of the image... just one step to the left! Also, the figures appear slightly halo-ish - is this the consequence of an aggressive edit?
Overall: An effective image but given the handrail, I might have been tempted to crop just behind the leading woman |

Forkby redpandaComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: Ordinary object, unusual context - found or placed? I remember someone did a 30 days of forks; I wonder if this is part of a similar project.
Critical stuff: The depth of field is pretty narrow here, I would have thought that a wider DOF that took in the whole fork might have been more effective - something with a very small sensor like a phone camera would have fitted the bill.
Overall: A difficult one for me this, I quite like the overall image but I can't say I find it very interesting and I can't quite understand your rationale for offering it up for the FS. I wish I could. |

Fox trotby mitalapoComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: Pigeons on vacation! I like it! Tons of dynamism here, the image feels like it exploding - I particularly like the shadows.
Critical stuff: Perhaps the surf line is throwing my eye out but the horizon looks slight off to me - a tad lower on the left.
Overall: A great capture - you've made me feel like I was got to see this happen for real. Great job. |

Molluscat (Alice's Revenge)by pointandshootComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: Startling POV and interesting subjects - the fixed stare is excellent, love the canvas 'overlay'.
Critical stuff: Not much really, there is obviously plenty of negative space - I like that, others may not.. but I don't think that will bother you too much! :-)
Overall: A very effective composition with compelling subjects. |

Gazeby aprudhommeComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: My, what a compellingly subtle portrait - there is something about the slight 'miss' of focus that grabs you in a way a super-sharp image could not. I love the coloration too.
Critical stuff: Nothing at all.
Overall: Beyond a simple 'capture-the-face' portrait. Excellent. |
