Strippedby toddw62Comment: Great portrait the slight touch of colour in the eyes works really well. |

schnoodlecopterby posthumousComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: The highlight for me in this image is the shadow of the dog - I like how squared off it is. I also like the texture of the iron work.
Critical stuff: Most of everything else (sorry!) The off vertical structure really bothers me - my problem I know - I tend to be fussy about alignment (always better to align verticals than horizontals I think). The harshness of the contrast -the very bright highlights in the bottom right corner seem unnecessarily harsh to me. The overall composition seems messy too.
Overall: I've been trying to see what you have seen here, but I'm afraid I've failed. |

The Book, The Fridge and The Rice Cookerby Anthony_D_ArcherComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: Nice and grungy - love the wall colour too; adds to the 50's feel. I think you have offered just the right amount of texture here too. I like the clean composition with the true verticals and horizontals.
Critical stuff: Nothing really.
Overall: Very nice image - makes me want to know more about the scene. |

Oi, on yer bike!by cirusComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: Wow - so shadow-like, it took my brain a few seconds to work out that it wasn't. Great coloration and interesting lighting.
Critical stuff: I think the prominence of the central pillar means that you might have been better to have put that vertical. I'm not so keen on the red halo at the back of the rider - chromatic aberration?
Overall: Nice, but for me, I think it just needs a bit of a neater edit. |

The Power Plantby JohannesFrankComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: This is just great, the long exposure clouds - the output from the chimneys (they look they are blasting vapour out), the stark scenery, the grain/noise and the light all conspire to offer something that is more than the sum of its parts.
Critical stuff: Just the little round aberration towards the left hand side, about 3/4 of the way up - dust spot?
Overall: Very nice image, nicely shot - well thought through at the point of capture. |

Positives: Straight out of the camera eh? Nicely done. Very interesting combination of subjects - I like how there is a linking theme of 'lines'. I find the orange luminance highly intriguing.
Critical stuff: Not much really, hard to argue with a zero edit - suggest anything and you would lose that.
Overall: Interesting. Nicely done. |
