daylight wandersby tateComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: I like this so very much! The figure walking the dog takes this simple foggy woodland scene into another league. I do like the foreground Silver Birch too though.
Critical stuff: Nothing
Overall: Fab 10 and a fave. |

If you say 'smile' one more time...by smurfguyComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: Great, unconventional image - one that sidesteps 'mere' cuteness (and there is plenty of that) and offers up something that is funny, insightful and wonderfully executed. If portrait work is about capturing personality - you have nailed that here. I love the shallow DOF too (I looking forward to seeing the lens you have used) and you needed to nail the focus, which of course you have done. The crop / composition is great too - adds to an 'in your face' feeling.
Critical stuff: Nothing at all.
Overall: Portrait perfection! |

All that is British by TiNComment: Comment:

Positives: This just flat out brilliant - one of the best uses of selective desaturation I have seen because it contributes to the feel and the meaning of the image so effectively. There are so many British elements here - the obvious stuff and the subtle too (the hashed traffic box, the cones and the traffic sign for example). The light is tremendous too.
Critical stuff: The background looks a tad moved and then recovered with sharpening but the strength of the image easily carries it.
Overall: An amazing image. 10 and a fave. |
