Nature's Flowby DigiFotoBuddyComment: My word - this has a 3D effect the like of which I'm not sure I've encountered before. Quite startling! |

Coincidence of Colorsby tehbenComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: I do like this and your title really helps to add interest - I'm sure I would not have twigged without the mental prompt. Stunning backdrop and an interesting foreground too. I feel that I'm getting a glimpse of the world that I'd never get without this photo - true of most images I suppose but this one seems to be particularly poignant in that regard.
Critical stuff: I suppose I wish it was slightly sharper.
Overall: An image that has surprised me by how much it has caused me to reflect - that's got to be a good thing hasn't it? Message edited by author 2010-03-10 11:43:44. |

The handby hajekaComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: This is certainly an unusual composition - inspired by the Children's Toy / robot weirdness stuff going on? Whatever the motivation - it is very well done though. I think the DOF is just right too.
Critical stuff: It is what it is but I wonder if it runs a little short on overall interest level.
Overall: I like it but I'm sure you knew that this was never going to garner wide appeal. |

Dreamlandby DrAchooComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: I like the way this is all about contrasts; contrasts of colour and texture and orientation and even in the way the eyes moves -into the picture with the red and upward with the green. You have made exactly the right choice with your DOF too.
Critical stuff: The limited number of elements might not appeal to everyone.
Overall: Well seen and well executed. |

Fallen Angelby Hussar1812Comment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: I really like this - I like the way that it doesn't try to conform to normal portrait conventions - the folded limbs, the high contrast, the stern expression - more than the sum of the parts.
Critical stuff: Not much - I'd have perhaps smoothed the right forearm just proximal to the wrist band a little.
Overall: Nice work. |

Positives: What a beautifully composed image - very subtle indeed. It communicates a sense of silence and delicacy. I like the way that nothing has been 'pushed' in the edit and as such the image feels honest.
Critical stuff: Nothing at all.
Overall: Very nicely done |

Old Reflectionsby jagarComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: There's something about this image that make it standout - it actually pulled me make from the next one in voting . I think the slight tone mapping is measured to perfection and so is are the saturation levels too. The overall subject is pretty enough too but I get a real sense of your photography actually adding to the scene.
Critical stuff: Not much - perhaps you could have added some more contrast into the sky, though I admit that might detract attention away from your primary subject.
Overall: A very well crafted image. |

Common Cupboard Chaosby fisheyeComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: This one made me smile - I was going to say that it isn't the sort of thing you'd put on your wall but actually I think it would look kinda good in the right place! I like the way the image offer an insight into a life - a nice idea. The border is cleverly matched too.
Critical stuff: Not too much - I'd perhaps take down the colour temperature a little.
Overall: Good idea, pretty well executed too. |

Welcome Homeby pamelasueComment: I gave the adjacent frame to this a 7 in the 'shoes' challenge so I do like the image but I'm not sure that it does so well in Free Study company - a lot of the appeal in the image comes from the idea and the smile that brings; I'm not sure it works as well as a second offering. |

KHARUNISIAby andrewtComment: I'm sure your getting hammered for the excess smoothing - I did for my 'Headwear' entry. I can see why you've done it - to emphasise the eyes (which it does) but I think just sparing the tip of the nose often makes this more acceptable to viewers.
I can't argue with your execution of this approach but I suspect you're not pulling the most potential out of your original image in terms of a score given by a DPC audience. |
