Subwayby Haukur JoComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: Copenhagen Metro? This is a very well executed image - quite precise and clinical, like the Metro itself. My favourite part of the image is the reflection in the left panel.
Critical stuff: Other than the reflection I find the image a little sterile and the tones of the monochrome conversion do little to add drama.
Overall: I do like the image but I am sure you could have got more out of the scene by playing with the reflections a little more. |

A Moth a Raindrop, and a Rainy dayby BrianRComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: Well - I was never sure how to address the 'All things being equal' challenge. This is inspiring! Lovely composition - the title actually really helps the eye to decode the image too. Great colours and bags of interest.
Critical stuff: Focus - I can't help but think that I'd like to see the moth in sharper focus.
Overall: Very unusual FS entry. Very put-on-the-wall-able too. Great stuff. |

Feeding Frenzyby vawendyComment: Great image - reminds me of my portrait of a wild bird image but I like the additional interest of the ensuing scrap here. |

"Lady" Bugby mBastinComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: Kind of a brave rendition of a Ladybug - lose the colour, make it look a little ugly, show another side.
Critical stuff: I'm not a fan of your conversion - I can see some residual blue lines; I'm not sure why are there but I am sure that (IMHO) they don't work.
Overall: I like your vision but I think the execution leaves a lot to be desired. |

relentlessby tateComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: I like this I really do, it seems to be perfectly composed and has a crafted feel as a consequence. I love the way the eye is led to the city in the distance and the way I wonder where you were standing when you shot it. The coloration works really well too.
Critical stuff: The horizon seems to tip up to the left.
Overall: Great image - is just as likely to be well received by the mainstream audience as those who enjoy the more unusual perspectives. |

Widow of Paseo by hotpastaComment: Pretty stunning portrait - the sort of thing that would do well here and on 1x. |

Moo no Moreby RistyzComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: Great shadows and some nice textures. It conveys a 'we all turn to dust feel'.
Critical stuff: The image doesn't have much soul - it feels a little flat in terms of impact. I think the composition is a bit vanilla too. The top of the skull at the 1/3s point makes this feel a bit too by-the-numbers.
Overall: To me a bit mundane; perhaps that was your intention - the matter-of-factness of death. If so, I can see your point - I just don't think it makes for something that will hold a viewer's interest for too long. |

The Holy Lakeby bnileshComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: I really like the way you haven't taken a conventional landscape route here - the line of colour is (of course) fantastic and (of course) makes the image. The brilliance is how the image plays with a sense of scale, compressing and expanding our horizons at the same time. I think your colour levels and luminosity is bang on too.
Critical stuff: Nothing at all. I really like it.
Overall: I'm surprised at how much the introduction of a little bit of the unexpected can enhance an otherwise fairly dull image. With it, it has become something else entirely. Excellent. |

Flowby NodWagComment: Aahh.. Dubai. It is a nice waterfall but when I've tried to photograph it, I've never found I could make it look interesting on screen.
I'm not sure you've convinced me it is possible. |
