Born to run...by GrayEllaComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: I like the narrow scope of this image; you have found a small piece of our world and made it the subject of your image - the inclusion of some background scenery emphasizes how tiny a part of our world this is and the car becomes more significant as a result. I think the coloration / toning works well to.
Critical stuff: Sharpness. I think this is too soft to be truly effective, the brain gets bothered by it and ceases to be interested in your scene.
Overall: Conceptually strong but with some technical deficits. |

Star trails, windmill and tulips by william88Comment: Another fantastically well done star trail image, once again this image humbles me as a photographer - this is well off the scale of what I could achieve and it makes me sit up and take notice. Stunning clarity, amazing DOF, perfect coloration, lovely composition. I think this will have very wide appeal too - my bet for the blue. |

slackby posthumousComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: I really like these sorts of images where form and movement win out over detail and conventional representation. There is just the right amount of form here to communicate your subject and the amount of motion blur conveys a great sense of dynamism. I also really like the structursnon the right of the image, they give the impression of pending destination and ground the rider into an environmental context.
Critical stuff: Nothing
Overall: Very compelling work. I like it a lot. |

Facing Northby daevansComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: This is a really impressive, high impact image. The star trails are superbly captured but the HDR handling of the scene and presentation of the vehicles is astonishing. One of those photos that I find humbling. I am sooooooo far off having the skills to be able to pull off a shot like this; it is just so well finished. In terms of narrative, it connects the every day to the big wide world and to the wider universe - quite a feat.
Critical stuff: Nothing
Overall: Beautiful and awe inspiring. Stunning. 10 and a fav. |

Are You Ready For The Sunshine ?? Only 29,95 $by mrbig65Comment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: What an unusual photograph to offer, that's interesting because the tray of sunglasses isn't that unusual but the capture of it and presentation is unexpected. I like the way way the catchlight reflections themselves reflect a suggestion of sunshine. I also like how you have kept the number of sunglasses ambiguous.
Critical stuff: Once we get past the novelty of the presentation, we are forced to consider the intrinsic interest level of the scene. This is quite low.
Overall: An interesting choice and an interesting POV but I'm not sure that is enough to carry the day as a photographic work. |

Au Phare des Mamellesby OmanOtterComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: I really like the toning here - the way the white on the top sign stands out so much and I like the way you have been proactive in your framing.
Critical stuff: I'm not sure - even after looking at it for a while - that I 'get' the shot; the POV is interesting but it doesn't address the 'why shoot this question'.
Overall: I wish I could see what you saw in this image.... I tried, I really did. |

AZUREby LVicariComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: This is a really interesting portrait - the DOF fascinates and the modelling is compelling. The eyes remind me of lovethelight's , which of course is no bad thing. I like your skin handling too, whether you left it or retouched it, it is just right.
Critical stuff: Nothing
Overall: Very compelling bold portrait work. |

by your sideby yiannis723Comment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: An unusual portrait, benefiting from great softness, colour handling and contrast profiling. Her expression is excellent and her eye contact makes the image.
Critical stuff: If I am honest, the man behind detracts from what would have been a great portrait - he appears disengaged and as a viewer I feel alienated as a result. The lettering on his T-Shirt is highly problematical - it upsets the consistency of the blocks of colour that help communicate the subtlety of the image.
Overall: Nearly great. |

What a wonderful worldby OdedComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: This one made me stop made me look. I really like the composition and I really like the colours. The perspective on the bus is compelling too.
Critical stuff: Something looks off with this image - the boy almost looks like he has been lifted from another image, there appears to be some artefacts around his outline. Also, I can see lots of colour target banding; I don't know your workflow but something seems amiss.
Overall: I like the overall image but casting an eye into the various elements throws up some troublesome areas. |
