Positives: Really interesting portrait(s) with an unusual but very effective POV. The lighting is stand-out too. The chick cracks me up with it's unintimidated directness.

Critical stuff: i'd have perhaps reduced some of the red coloration from his head.

Overall: A very unusual portrait. I like it.

Positives: My what a choice you've made to submit this. I bet you're getting killed and I bet you don't mind at all! I love her wild hair and the sharp focus on her eye and the rule of thirds composition.... like you've approached it like a real portrait, with the limbs and torso being 'posed' in a very real way. I really like that bronze coloration too and the way that you've processed and captured the light in a way that makes the highlights a feature in their own right. I also think the negative space at the top is inspired.

Critical stuff: Nothing

Overall: I could see this in a gallery and I for one would be transfixed. Excellent

Positives: I wish I could do work like this! My model work is a bit dull and over-polished compared to this. The colours of the reflections, her pose, the intense eyes, the slightly soft focus, the grain - they all exude confidence in your work. Great stuff.

Critical stuff: The framing / cropping on the left.... perhaps a bit more would be better, here, by nearly catching all of her, the slight clipping draws the eye away from where it belongs.

Overall: Superb work.

Positives: Fabulously constructed image. Everything is right here and because of that your image, like the bird, soars. The coloration/toning, the light, the exposure, the subjects, the backdrop - it's difficult to see how it could get better than this.

Critical stuff: Umm... no.

Overall: A DPC great. I'm sure you'll ribbon. I hope it's blue. If you haven't done so already, I'd try this at 1x.com too (if you are so inclined).

Positives: Superb use of a shallow DOF and even better use of SEP2 (am I right - the burn pattern and toning are suggestive of that). The subject matter is most compelling too; the springs with their own form extruding from the fabric below. It all begs the question as to where this mattress (if that's what it is) is.... the very information we are denied through your low DOF technique.

Critical stuff: Although I like burnt edges, I think the transition is a little harsh here.

Overall: Very nicely seen and made.

Positives: I really like how this image confounds -where is the light coming from? What is the scale of the image? What is the red thing? What is the black surface? All the better that we don't know - we can just accept and enjoy the marvellous form and colour.

Critical stuff: Nothing

Overall: Great stuff. It would look great on a wall.

Positives: This is a fabulous quirky portrait. The colours are tremendous, particularly the curtains! The pan.... a masterstroke. That decrepit frame... marvellous. The light on his face is just perfect and this contributes to outstanding balance across the frame.

Critical stuff: Nothing at all

Overall: Magnificent. 10 and a fav.

Positives: I love the rawness of this - with the acid colours (Bleach Bypass??). I really like the curve too - particularly how it causes the disjunction at floor level. The glow of the lights contributes a lot too. The whole effect is rather cinematic, almost like a memory sequence.

Critical stuff: I think the colour noise top left is a bit distracting: I think desaturation of the magenta and cyan channels might have reduced this with little negative effect on the rest of the image.

Overall: A brave shot to enter, but nonetheless one I like a good deal.

Positives: One of those pictures that is more than the sum of its parts. The scene through the window makes for a beautiful abstract landscape in its own right and those streaks of light bottom left are lovely. The walls add to the wonder - as much as by what they obscure as what they show.

Critical stuff: Nothing

Overall: A most pleasing image.

Positives: I really really like this. A bunch of Puffins? the coloration is fantastic; pure yet still complex and oh-so-assistive in allowing us to discern the structures. The slightly curved nature of the blur is most compelling - we can almost calculate the radius of curvature from what we see here.

Critical stuff: Nothing,

Overall: There aren't many people who, having the chance to shoot birds at this distance would choose to create this. I'm ever so glad you did.
