I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: I absolutely love this. The light, the tones, the abstracted figure, the footprints.... All marvellous.

Critical stuff: Nope.

Overall: my favourite in the challenge.

Positives: A very interesting image. Makes me want to know more about the back story. Despite the very heavy grain, this still works - and perhaps because of it. It adds a lot of ambiguity and imprecision to the image. It encourages the imagination.

Critical stuff: the grain ;-) I like it but others won't.

Overall: Fascinating.

Positives: I like unusual portraits and this one nails it; the quirky expression, the 70s coloration, the liberal noise. All good.

Critical stuff: No

Overall: Exceptionally well made.

Positives: Highly compelling image. The pair of pairs works really well, especially with the size difference. The overall coloration works too. The object doing the reflecting is quite confounding. I like that.

Critical stuff: Not much; perhaps you could crop more tightly at the bottom of the frame.

Positives: Great moment to catch - looks like levitation. I really like the capture of the shadow, it makes it easier to orientated the figure. The stark light and washed out tones work really well.

Critical stuff: The shadow of the bush at the top of the image. Perhaps you could have rotated the image counterclockwise and lost it.

Overall: well seen and made.

Positives: A great near silhouette and fabulous coloration here. It actually feels warm just to look at it. The scene behind the child is simple yet compelling. Are those three figures in the far distance?

Critical stuff: No.

Overall: Lovely stuff

Positives: Lovely, pure street work here. Stunningly well constructed with perfect light. An exercise in ambience transmission! Tones and textures are bang on too. Makes me want to take a deep breath for the smell of bread and coffee!

Critical stuff : No

Overall: Expertly done. I can only aspire.

Positives: The overall effect here is like one of finger painting - I like that; it creates its own abstraction without compromising the integrity of the scene. Quite Turner-esque in that regard. The stoic man in the centre is fundamental to the success of the image, we wonder why he is unmoved by the goal; a home team fan who couldn't get a ticket in another part of the stadium?? I can see how it might have been tempting to go monochrome with this but for me, the colour rendition has proved to be an outstanding choice.

Critical stuff: No

Overall: very well crafted image. Much harder than it looks I suggest.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: I do like the swirly blur here - it makes me feel that I am somewhat out of phase with the world I am seeing. I think that's an accomplishment to shift the sense of blur and movement away from the subject and onto us. I'm particularly fond of the building behind and the hints of the wider world so revealed.

Critical stuff: For all of the comments above, I do feel that the image is ever so slightly over-contrived. I often like that, it communicates the photographers intent but here, there seems to be something a little lacking.... Like you don't quite believe in the image. That sounds like nonsense as I read it back - but that's how I feel.

Overall: A well executed image with some fascination but for me - the more I look at it, the more hollow it feels. I wonder if I looked for longer it would turn me again...

Positives: And I thought I'd already found the bvy image! Although I can see this as paper on the ground, the overall effect is one of a discovered crime scene... A body barely covered along the edge of a path. The impression you have created here imbues the image with real power. The Sycamore pod is really important too - it shows us the scale of the image yet my mind refuses to accept the smallness of the face. That dichotomy fascinates.

Critical stuff: I can't think of anything that could be changed... It would be wrong to disturb the scene!

Overall: Excellent story telling.
