Cactaceaeby BeetleComment: I couldn't imagne how lovely cacti can look in b&w until I saw you picture. But when thinking of landscape I'm thinking of a bigger scene with sky also, so probably I wound have given you a 6 for this picture (somehow I missed voting) |

HMQS Gayundahby BeetleComment: For me this is indeed a silhouette, perfectly set back from the light sky. I also like the lights on the distant shore which look like pearls on a string.
The most appalling feature of this picture for me is the bright rim at the upper border of the wreck, which seems to result from the pp. |

Entertaining and educating touristsby BeetleComment: I remember that I already wanted to make a comment during voting but somehow I must have missed it...
Considering the circumstances you did a great job!
If it wasn't for your title, I would have wondered what on earth they were doing - a picture where you can spent some time exploring all the details, the child in the backbround, the vegetation, the clothing, the fruit skin on the ground, the young man's hairdo, even the chief's bare feet are interesting. Thank you for showing all this to us!

a simple headshotby tangueraComment: Wow - those eyes are gorgeous! Can't take my eyes off of you - this song comes to my mind immidiately.
But I don't like the bottom part (especially the shadow in her cleavage) If it were my picture I would have cropped it about at the hight of the collarbone |

quittin' timeby tangueraComment: I enjoyed reading your notes on how you created this picture! When you mentioned tequila I suggested that you have been to Mexico, haven't you? But for me everything is remembering me of Greece, the donkey and the colours ...that is catching my eye and I actually feel that the shovel is secondary (the reason why this only got a 5 from me - sorry about that) If the challenge was "still life with donkey" I would have given a 7 or 8. |

she was playing french songsby tangueraComment: The young woman evokes sympathy and curiosity one what she's playing, even though you mentioned the French song...And you did a great job with this very smart processing. It wouldn't be that strong with more contrasts, because the backgroungd would have been too distracting. I'm just wondering why her left shoe and the dog's nose are more blue than the rest of her? |

Alaskan Reverieby Bear_MusicComment: I agree with Tom - indeed a skilled use of tilt/shift, puts the emphasis on the boat. But also the overall layout is great with this summit peeking out on the left. Makes me want to go on a canoe trip there! |

Pizza Runby Bear_MusicComment: I love pictures like this - more atmosphere than sharp and crisp motif. The family on their way to - hmmm, is it Pizza Hut? I'm not familiar with this sign, which is actually a little bit too light for me. That's the reason why I rated this a 7 instead of a 8. Watching it now makes me feel sad that I didn't give a better score becaus it is abstract and tells a story |

Tranquilizers: take two and go with the floe :-)by Bear_MusicComment: Dear Bear Robert,
this is my 1000th comment and I'm so happy that you volunteered to get it!
I was browsing through your pictures quite a while now to find a picture that deserves more attention. And I found it - I love this one! The contrast between cool and warm colours, the reflection of clouds, the structure in the water surface, the idea of how medidation can be medication - all this is outstanding.
The only explanantion I have why this picture didn't score better is that voters actually expected some pills...

Wir sind das Volk by GeorgesBogaertComment: A German title? Wow, you're brave!
The motif is great, I like that you're leading the eyes to somebody who is struggling with not being a 100% member of the productive society. I don't like that you blurred his feet and left part of the lady in the background unblurred. That doesn't make much sense imo
