Slipperby JuliBocComment: She awoke slowly, her vision blurred, her senses dulled. As things became more clear, she glanced around her. She tried to move her arms, then legs, but nothing was there. Try as she might the limbs that were once as much a part of her as anything wouldn't respond. It was then that she glanced down. She blinked. A part of her could not, would not, believe what she was seeing, but slowly the realization dawned. It was a reflection, and she... was not she anymore.
Pippi Longstocking closed her eyes and laughed. It was a new life, in a new form, and really it was all she could do. |

Stellarby KenComment: It was a less famous moment, the invention of the lighthouse that cast light everywhere... except for out to sea. |

Foggy Morningby silverhawkComment: They silently paddled toward the boggy island, knowing their search could finally be over. It had been weeks since they began, and they'd traced the source of their search here. This small, uninhabitable tract of land in the middle of a distant lake. They slowly approached, every sense on alert, as they landed the canoe. Did they have it cornered, or had it cornered them?
A sudden rush of noise to the left, a shot fired in panic, the coming apart of rational thought.
Years later, the skeletal remains of the canoe was happened upon by a working crew. The bones were found shortly after. A family of squirrels the only life to be seen. |

Our Future Is In Our Handsby NuzzerComment: When Professor Dingman created the mini-daisy, hardly anyone took notice. He was ridiculed and forced into early retirement.
It was when Professor Dingman created the Venus Man Trap that people suddenly took notice... |

6am Mexico Beachby walrus451Comment: While Agatha was always green with envy of the bodies of the other jars, Kevin suffered from depression and Ingrid was frightened of everyone, and it was kind of tragic that Agatha never understood that her envy was unwarranted. |

elementalby yankoComment: It was hailed as a modern day miracle, when this portrait of what some say is of The Madonna (and others say is a rather nicely done portrait of Laura Dern), showed up in the bottom of the nest of the Common Nut Hatcher. Miracle or not, it is certainly unexplainable, as most people agree that the Common Nut Hatcher simply doesn't have the schooling for this kind of classical portraiture. |

Anitaby alexjackComment: A hush went over the bush, and Professor McCreary went still. As the hairs prickled on his neck, he slowly turned around. His breath caught in his throat. There she was! The elusive Goggled Yuppie! The Professor crouched down slowly, to get to eye level and hopefully show himself as less of a threat. He excitedly began to jot in his notebook as the Yuppie slowly circled him, looking curious, but non-threatening. Such as it was when the Professor was taken completely by surprise, the sudden attack coming with no warning, no suggestion of body language.
He didn't even have time to scream. |
