Juicy Fruit

They had never known such horror before, but when it happened, it devastated them all. The strange object that had entered their world had suddenly become the last bastion of hope in a desperate attempt at survival. They clung to it with all their strength. Who would be the next to finally fatigue and let go, to be sent screaming to their doom?

They all watched as countless others shot towards the surface, only to explode violently there. They all watched as one by one, the bubbles they were with lost their grips and went toward the same fate. They all watched as friends and family were obliterated.

Why? Why was this happening? What force, or god, or entity could possibly be so cruel as to doom them to this fate? For what purpose? For what reason?

They would never know, and on that horrible day, the screams were endless.

Time Standing Still at the Sink

For many lonely nights she stood there, wrapped in gossamer flow, billowing in the breeze from the window beyond. In her dreams it was always the same, she would stand there in the light of the dawn, and he would gaze at her from across the expanse of the sink, and a smile would form on his face, and she would smile back, but only slightly. They would flirt like this for awhile, and eventually he would come to her and take her hand, and they would begin a waltz across the formica, away from the stainless steal and into a happiness untold.

But that was only in her dreams. As she stood there once more, and gazed across the sink, she saw that once more he would not even acknowledge that she existed. He just stood there and dripped, as he did day after day, his attention entirely on the world inside the basin, trapped within his own self-absorption.

So she closed her eyes, and once more let her dream take her away.

This has the feel of artificial blurring, but of course I can't know for sure. Funny thing is, artificial or not, something moved me, and when my first reaction is a "Woah, nice", that nails you a 9.

Nice subliminal messaging here.

Too bad it didn't work. I'm not giving you a 6 or a 7.

I'll give you an 8 instead.

That's a pretty cool mini-bathroom.

Needs a sink.

Suddenly feeling very staph-o-phobic.

As he stood back, his completed vision standing there before him, he suddenly gasped in shock and snapped his plans up in front of him and stared, ready to knock the head off the incompetent builder that had botched his dream.

But no, there it was, plain as day, right in front of him.

He really had forgotten to include balconies for the double swing doors.

They had built it just as he had laid it out in the blueprints.

With a sob, he sat down on the curb and lamented. There went the "Architect of the Year" award once again.

I don't have a relationship with my father, so it's always wonderful for me to see and hear about the stories of people that do/did.

May he rest in peace, and thank you for sharing this with us.
