This shot looks posed. To me it seems as if whe is standing there pretending to throw the ball into the net. It does not ahve the feeling of Action, movement, excitment that Action photography should have. In general, Action photographers take a heap of photos, often in burst mode, and get a couple of good ones out of it. Digital photography therefore is perfect for this. I would have preferred you to have her throwing the ball into the net, and taking plenty of shots. Some jumping, motion blur on the racket maybe, a ball flying through the air. have her further back in the field and zoom in so that you don't get hit. Yes there will be a lot of crap int here, but also a lot of great images. I took around 100 photos for this challenge, and know others who took many more. Why not be on the sidelines for a game and get photos that way?
The colours don't seem right. The grass looks fake. The blue maybe also a little overdone. The angle of the shot seems wrong. From here, the shot might have worked better at eye level (the Goalies view). There are overexposed areas down her leg which distracts as well. A shallower depth of field, o use the advantage of Advanced editing also could have got rid of many distracting elements in the background, and possibly made this (if taken with some movement) look like it could be in a game, rather than being able to see those training in the background.

Can't add much onto what has already been said, as they hit most of the points.
I don;t like the crop, there is a lack of space to the Left where the dog is looking. I feel it is too tight there.
Not sure about the angle and pose you have used. Would have preferred the dog to be looking at the camera more. With a Lab, I would love to have seen the dog lying down, head resting forward on its paws and looking up with the big Sad Eyes. I think that would have portrayed devotion more strongly.
The Top 9 Images are all exceptionally good. Their lighting is great, the poses are great, and the crops work. Have a detailed look at those as well to see what they did that maybe you could try or improve on. Why not use some of the advice here and do a reshoot, and post the new and imroved shot for us then to comment on as well.......
As others have said, lighting, colours, the shadows and flares.......agree with them and can't add much more.

The location and angle of this photo are great. The old processing that has been done works. However, it lacks impact. I feel this photo needed an increase in contrast, which would have made a massive difference to the overall photo and result.

Nice quaint little Service Station. The picture appears soft in places. A blue sky would have been nice, but we don't control the weather. The colours though seem to lack something. Some increased Saturation and Contrast would have helped this significantly, and given the photo much more punch. AT the moment it feels a little washed out.....

The shallow depth of field for this becomes a distraction. The reflections off the side mirror draw attention. The crop and angle do not really work for me either

Audi's are expensive to fix. He probably put the Audi double the price formula to the quote. And i wish I was getting $104 AN HOUR. Nice idea, different from all the rest which is a welcome change. The surrounding elements all work, giving colour, and contect to the photo, without taking away from the main theme either. Angle is good, the dry coffee ring of the table, the attention to detail all works here.

I am not a fan of the crop and angle you have applied to this image. The top of the roof has been cropped off, as well as the lower part of the pumps and car. I don't see how either crop helps the photo. Using such traditional elements, a more traditional angle and crop with space, using rule of thirds and the like, I feel would be much more suitable. The subject matter is great for this (I wish I had this for the challenge).
The car is very dark. Some light from the front to light the car and the front pump would have been great, and made them more prominent, withot blowing out the front sign and areas already lit.

I like this. A great image of times gone past. Maybe a little dark. Would have been hard to lighten much, but a ittle would make the Shell on top of the building stand out a little more, while avoiding blowing out the lights too badly. Shame it wasn;t Advanced Editing then you could have achieved it easily.
Composition is great. One of the best images.

Simple, and yet elegant. Different to the rest. Seeing something differently to what the others have seen, and then capturing it well.
Control of the lighting would have been a challenge, but you have done that well.
Maybe having the top of the pump where the nozzel goes into the bowser couold have improved, rather than the spot it is here.

So will you fill up my car while I am in the Temple?????

Hopefully people look closly enough at this photo to see the pojt of it, and how it meets the challenge, rather than the 2 sec glance and wack you for it. Well spotted to get this type of picture. Shame we can't control the weather, as the sky is a little bit of nothing. A nice blue sky with a cloud would have added some extra colour into the photo whcih could have helped you as well.Good angle. probably not possible to isolate the steeple from the background buildings (bloody buildings always in the way)

Like the car just leaving, ht esign is there to see. Very different and a good change from the standard petrol station shot
