Noise is an issue in your clouds. There's also a pretty prominent spot right between them, about a quarter of the way down. Nice point of view though.

Those branches on the left really pull the viewer away from the bridge/buildings.

Very pleasing minimalism. I'm loving this type of shot more and more these days. The isolation, quiet, and sterility of it are interesting.

You really did do a great job of making her look like a classical sculpture. Great shot.

The blown highlights in the snow really pulls the viewer away from your subject. Since this is advanced editing, I'd definitely consider selectively editing it and lowering the exposure.

Lots of cool elements. Clouds are processed nicely, providing a dramatic element that is helped by the ice/glass sculptures and bridge. A lot of very cool structures and subjects going on in this one.

It doesn't effect my vote, but are those flowers real? More just curious. I like the sepia.
ETA: Taking a look at this again, I also like the background chains or whatever they are. They draw the viewer through things nicely.

Hello,
I̢۪m from the Critique Club.
I really like all the energy and power of your shot. It really gets the viewer̢۪s attention, and the ice spray is a nice combination of sharpness and blur for motion. I think that the blurred parts work well with the overall shot, and while it may be cool to have them all frozen as particulates, I think the blur gives a greater sense of the speed and the explosion. I would say, however, that maybe a little bit faster shutter might have been useful to help freeze the skate motion and sharpen up those details, though that could have been due to a missed focus just as easily since you were shooting at F3.5. I̢۪m honestly surprised how much you had to crank up your ISO when using two 600̢۪s though. Any idea what power they were actually firing at?
I think the B/W works well with the subject, and helps to accentuate the ice pieces, as you said. The background element is slightly distracting but I understand it̢۪s probably pretty hard to have a clear background if you̢۪re shooting at a rink. Overall, I think you did a great job capturing this and still making the footwear a central focus instead of just the spray.

Moccasins

Moccasins

Hello from the Critique Club,
The first thing that strikes me about the photo is your choice of shoes for the shot. They̢۪re interesting looking, and have lots of detail to them, as well as being a bit different from the rest of the subjects in the challenge. In terms of the actual photo itself, it feels very flat to me, which is probably because of the aperture you used (16). Because everything is within almost the exact same amount of focus, the distance is compressed and the moccasins fail to pop from the blanket. The way the shadows are falling, I̢۪m assuming that your flash was on camera too, which increases this flatness of lighting because the shadows on the subject are decreased from the viewer̢۪s point of view. Foregoing the flash and using something to support your camera may have worked to your advantage (though I don̢۪t know what your ambient lighting was). Compositionally, I wonder if centering things would have made things feel more natural, in order to include the blanket as a subject. If you wanted to emphasize the moccasins more instead, I̢۪d consider shooting from a lower angle and placing one shoe angled in regard to the camera, and one on top of that facing with the beads toward the camera. The lower angle makes the blanket less distinguishable, and the lower angle will accentuate the features of the shoes. Shooting this next to a window with sunlight streaming through could work pretty well, I think.
