I always sorta wish I had picked up an instrument and gotten started on it, but now I already have way too many time consuming hobbies on my plate to expect much progress, so it's one of those lost pipe dreams.

Was just perusing your portfolio and stumbled on this gem. I think I like your image more than Rosenthal's, actually. Reason being, is that there are some things that feel like they are literally getting ripped out of reality, erased, while others retain existence.

The brick against the blue sky is very pleasing, though the clouds look a bit overdone to me.

Nice shot- it's got a very good "stock" feel to it, with the white background and the very even illumination of the oil.

Sweet shot. I'd like a little bit more depth of field for the mouth to be in focus, but it's still pretty cool. The texture of the fish, especially on the blue splotches, is really awesome.

The line through the glass, and onto the ring/hand is very nice. The attention to detail is noted. However, it doesn't strike me as a particularly compelling image. Things seem a bit underexposed, there isn't a whole lot going on in the scene, and things aren't all in focus. Consider using a hyperfocal setting. Really, though, it boils down to subject matter. While your photo makes me think of fidelity, marriage, anniversary, the topic is glamour, and a snigle ring does not compel that from me.

The strong contrast is awesome on this. And your focus really just makes the legs seem longer and creepier looking. The small blown areas in the background don't bother me, either.
For some arthropod nerdistry, this is technically not a daddy long legs spider, and in fact, is not even a spider in the first place. It's a member of Arachnida commonly called a Harvestman. Lots of different species of them, actually. The easiest way to differentiate between Harvestmen and spiders is their fused body segments. Spiders have two distinct body segments, the cephalothorax and the abdomen, whereas Harvestmen do not.

If you're curious, I think this is a young katydid specimen, judging by the body shape a wing buds. Not sure of actual species though. Nice choice on your focus, it really draws the viewer's attention to just where it belongs.

I'm thinking I really like the choice of focus on this. The form, and border, provided by the oof flower petals, is what really creates this shot though. The focused elements are more controlled by what isn't.
