Memory of a Lakeby Spark_in_DarkComment: Very well done. Looks like an impressionest painting. The long shutter speed (I assume) here has given it an ethereal quality. |

Carnivalby noranekoComment: Well done. The contrast of the green and yellow of the flower works very well. I like the composition and the sharpness of the flower. The background is very nice. |

Cattle Egretby KelliComment: Great pose and great capture. The sharpness of the feathers is very nice. The lighting and the smooth background make this one a winner. |

Latourellby hopelessoptimistComment: Interesting image. I like the roads that are on either side. The highlights and odd angles are a bit distracting. I am afraid that my eyes are drawn much more to the border than the photo. A simplier border would have worked much better. |

The Endby MaryOComment: This is a very interesting photo with lots to look at. I like the leading line on the green stem. All the reflections and textures provide a lot of depth to the photo. Propably not a good shot for the "3 second look and vote" mentality! |

One Fish - Rust Fishby AliciaComment: I love the combination/contrast of the rusty texture and the wood texture. Nice cropping. I think the frame works well here -- unlike many others that add a letterbox to try to be cool, the letterbox border actually compliments the lines/flow of this image. |

FoosPlayerby massmediakid31Comment: I like to look at the lower scoring photos in order to learn more about what mistakes to avoid. In this case, I am toally lost. This is a great shot, well composed with a excellent use of color and DOF. Not sure what the rest of the voters did not like. Must have been the subject, I guess. Clean Energy Industry (Solar Dish Farm) by FocusPointComment: What a lovely photo. The clouds in dishes are a great touch. My eye however is drawn to the stark white bands and letterbox black border. I think a simple border would have worked much better here and let your photo draw me in rather the then border. |

Heedlessby pixelpigComment: I like the diagonal composition, where the leaves lead you to the flower. The narrow DOF pushes the green leaves out of focus very nicely. The black background isolates the subject nicely. On the negative side the higlights on the edges of the flower are very bright and are a bit ditracting. Also the narrow DOF is hurting you here as some of the petal edges seem out of focus.
The viewpoint is a little common and may not standout within a competetive Free Study environment. I like macro (and am jealous of your lens -- and I have a A350 to boot). You could try differnt angles and aperature sizes and see what provides more of a wow factor to excite the viewers. Not always easy to do :) |
