Golden Yearsby KonadorComment: Perfect lighting and focus for a shot like this...a memory-lane sort of feel. Very nice. |

Gate-keepingby e301Comment: A wonderfully sweet image, feels very much like opening a door into the past. There's a hint of softness to the woman, as if she moved a little while the photograph was being taken; with everything else so crisp, it's a minor distraction from a lovely photo. |

Ruins at Galesteoby Firstrich1Comment: This is a nice shot. I'd love to see, after the challenge, what it would look like with a bit of sharping, and some extra filters to keep the jaggies along the rooftops down (not sure if that can be accomplished in such dramatic lighting, though). |

Windmillby SonifoComment: A nice photo, very plain and stark, though I had to blink at the title a few times. :) |

Fall's Sunset: Part from the past?by postitComment: The warm colors make me think summer, the trees' shapes make me think winter, and in any case this is definitely evocative. I like your choice of framing, to use the reflection rather than take the shot straight on. Beautiful colors and lines. The car right behind you is mildly distracting, but I only noticed it on my second or third study of the image. |

English summerby marboComment: I like this - the beauty of the town in the background, soft and out of focus, and the crisp clear realities of work that speak so to the season. :) |

No Lifeguard On Dutyby DiversqComment: A very summer scene, and very cool. Was the look of an older photo deliberate? It's really nice. I do wish there'd been a slightly crisper focus, probably on the lifeguard stand, though - I'm not sure if it's so soft/blurred because of focus or because of the sky behind it. |

Niagara On The Lakeby mgkarimiComment: This is a really cool photograph, very evocative, good mood. I think the constrast of the bright lights against the dimmer trees has done it a disservice, though - areas are washed-out where others are just barely light enough. Maybe a different angle or location, so the brilliance of the restaurant (?) on the left would be more contained? Just guessing. It's a lovely scene - makes me want to step into it. |

A late summer's morning rain.by catpixelComment: I like your subject, but the focus appears to have settled on the front left - which is over-bright and therefore doesn't look quite in focus even though I think it's the closest to in focus of any of them. I'm not quite sure where to rest my eyes. |

The Grumpy Toadby MarjoComment: Hee. I love this guy - he's great. (And suitably grumpy-looking!) I don't know that the negative space really creates the "wow!", though. It seems more just to be there - I felt the image looked stronger when moved so that the toad more of the frame. |
