Portible Soundby WILDBLUEComment: Wherefore are the headphones? Is it really sound if no one can hear it? (Oh no, not that debate again.)
Interesting choice, good commercial art feel. |

Listen...by tfarrell23Comment: This is a nice idea, and a very pretty photo. Cropped or framed well (whichever applies), and good choice of background. |

"The Break"by autoolComment: Okay, that, that is cool. A very distinctive sound, yes. The motion capture is very interesting looking. Where on earth did you find a BLUE pool table? (Or is that some amount of colour adjustment? I notice the oranges and reds aren't as sharply red as I might expect either so I'm suspecting it may be.) |

Snap, Crackle and Popby mariomelComment: This was another one I was expecting, though it looks on a quick glance of thumbs you're the only one who did it, which you're probably relieved at.
Captures the topic well in part because it IS so expected. I like the pouring milk (that's when the sound's the loudest, after all!) and the bowl is perfectly centered left/right which is nice. It's also a good colour combination -- blue/white cloth, blue/white bowl, blue/white cup/saucer, and the blue/yellow bo with that nice blurry neutral space between, and works well for me.
Interesting to see the contents weight in grams -- must be outside the U.S. That's totally unrelated to my impression of the picture, it was just something I noticed as I looked the photo over more closely. I guess 'snap, crackle, pop' is more international than I thought! |

Outdoor concert on a lazy summer's dayby johnmkComment: Interesting candid shot. Would have preferred a focus closer on the stage, though; the picture as is tends to emphasize the audience, not the players (and therefore the 'sound' aspect).
Absolutely without any connection to anything, I'm curious if this is along the Mississippi somewhere... |

Johnny Putt Puttby MarjoComment: Mmm... kind of conveys an idle (not idLING, but 'off') tractor engine on first impression because of how hard it is to see the smoke against the clouds. If the smoke stood out more it would be better. Also, honestly, the horse in the background is distracting; my mind keeps saying 'Ooo, horsie!' rather than focussing on the other things. The angle on this is probably part of the problem; the placement of the smoke is such that the bulk of the tractor (and the horsie!) keep drawing the eye away from it. (Nice horsie! Is it a working horse or one for riding or both?) (See what I mean?)
That having been said, the concept is good; those things get LOUD. |

Note of Dby KneeforuComment: At first glance I almost thought this was static but then I caught the string vibration. Because of the colour tones in the shot it doesn't immediately draw the eye, but the more you look at it the easier it is to see it and focus on it, so overall a reasonable shot. |

East Indian Drum Stringsby sunflowerComment: This is gorgeous, well-framed, nice scarf (?) used as a background, very colourful in a way that is not too distracting. My objection is that while it is pretty art and is a reasonable concept, I really prefer that instruments in a "Sound" challenge be in use. |

Whistlerby hawkidaComment: THANK YOU for actually having someone BLOWING the whistle.
It's another one of those shots where I wonder why black and white was chosen but it's not as if that's terribly distracting. It meets the challenge, it's a good photo. |
