Midnight Churchby tyrkinnComment: I like how the church is clean and flat-seeming, almost like it's made out of cardboard, against a gently cottony sky. Nice textures, especially played against each other. |

Bone crushingly bad dayby YomiComment: Wow. I'll be looking to find out where this was shot, after the competition. :-> It looks like a museum diorama, sort of; if so, the lighting is amazingly good (usually museums are so harshly lit it's a bitch to photograph 'em). It's got personality, its composition is strong and uncluttered. Definitely 10. |

Beatleby JackoComment: Marvellous shot. Great crisp macro, with DOF just short enough to fade the legs and plant but leave all the antennae and most of the body in focus. The lighting is wonderfully numinous, too, and the toning subtle and just enough to accentuate, instead of taking over. |

"Duo"...toneby tfarrell23Comment: The shot is so busy that the eye doesn't really have anywhere to go. The focus and lighting are nice, but the image itself is a bit of a jumble. |

Looks Can Killby magnusComment: Somehow the pose looks stiff, almost as if the model's all tensed up and thinking 'Damn, when can I put this stupid knife down and go home?' It doesn't feel natural (not that it WOULD be, but it could feel so), and that detracts a bit from the overall appeal of the shot. Nice reflection, though. |

Another flowerby Crafty SueComment: I'm going to have to grade this down a bit for not being about your home, IMHO. This is of course just my own (perhaps over-narrow) interpretation of the challenge, but I have to draw lines somewhere to make judging easier, and I feel people who tried to shoot their own home deserve a better chance at high scores in this challenge. This might well be a flower in your personal yard, but there's no way of telling that from the photograph. |

The Light Insideby xertionComment: Ok, I see three colors here - black, white, and blue. I'm grading it down a bit to leave room for more traditional 'duotone' interpretations. |

Barnby David EyComment: This doesn't look like an actual duotone to me, rather like a color shot you turned down most of the brightness on the other color channels for. I have to grade it down a bit to leave room for things that more properly fit the topic. |
