Wow! This scene is so iconic of childhood bliss. It seems like you captured a perfect moment and I'll bet little Abby will really appreciate this shot when she gets older.

I really liked this one and I ended up giving it a 6. My favorite part about it is the composition along with an interesting subject. On the down side, the sky has some posterization and it feels a little flat to me. I wonder if this would pop a little better with the saturation pushed up along with a slight lightness increase and a light to medium contrast curve. I think the average quick-click (or key-stroke) voter may be more negatively impacted by too little than too much in areas like that.

Of course, this is all just my humble opinion. You really did take a nice photo here.

This is one of my top three favorites in this challenge and I actually expected to see it a lot higher to be honest. Congratulations and I look forward to seeing your future work.

This is very under rated IMHO. The pattern is unmistakable and the composition is what really sells me on this shot. This is such a textbook example of the rule of thirds. You might want to try using curves to add medium-strong contrast on this and perhaps a little more saturation to make it really pop. Still, I really can't understand why so many people voted below 5 unless there are just that many that don't understand what a pattern is.

Nice shot. Much better than the voters gave it.

This was a great choice for this challenge. Just echoing what KarenNfld said, I would bet that putting a medium or high contrast curve on this with slightly increased saturation would really make this pop. Awesome patterns overall.

I was one of the people who gave this a 6, so I'll give a go at explaining my rationale, but keep in mind that I'm a relative newbie, so take it for what it's worth...

On the plus side, the pattern is evident, I really love the texture, that bokeh is oh so creamy, and it has a wonderful surreal overall feel. The shallow DOF works for me with the lower left needle that is mostly in the focal plane. The DOF after that gives me a feeling of choppiness as it goes through the middle of the other needles so that my eyes lock on those points in stead of flowing up and down the rest of the nicely textured lines.

It's amazing to me how close this score is to your reflection entry score which was among my top picks for that challenge. But, I had to study that one for a long while to let it sink in. So, I have to echo Melethia on subtleness. Your shots are great for those of us that like studying a photo that throws a curve, but may escape the attention of the 1.38 second voter.

The pattern is clear to me. It strikes me that this might be an ideal location for trying and HDR image (although not useful for a basic challenge). I love the colors and the texture of the layers.

Congratualtions on this beautiful shot. I love the perspective and it's a nice touch way the lines lead into the title. When I first saw this I couldn't get that old TV mini-series V out of my head as this has a bit of a space ship look to it. :) Can't agree more with JulietNN that's it's shocking to see a photo like this getting anything below a 5.

OK, someone is smoking crack if they can't see the patterns here (or maybe that would make them see more patterns). This is a nice shot for this challenge and I think the commenters scored a little closer to the mark.
