Leaving Townby tangueraComment: Great shot - I love how the darkness at the top is broken by the little pinpoints of light. Also quite jealous of your fisheye lens... ;o) |

Does Your Chewing Gum Lose Its Flavour On The Bedpost Overnight?by PetRockComment: I would probably have given this a four, or maybe a five if I had had enough coffee.
Why?
Plus points: The technicals are there - focus is mostly on (although it is still a little soft - did you sharpen after resizing?) DOF is fitting for the challenge and there is enough light / contrast to see what is going on.
Minus points: The composition is very centred and unexciting. Try retaking the shot putting the focal point further down and to the right, see what happens. It is a very, very busy image, which obscures what I believe is your main focal point. There is a huge variety of random colour, which also has the same effect. The light is not interesting. This is probably the single biggest thing - one abiding characteristic of the best photos on the site is the effective use of light... most of us have not nailed it yet though! |

The Watchersby farraComment: This was one of only 5 '9's I gave out this challenge (no 10s). I think it is beautifully composed, simple and with great colour. I didn't necessarily expect the DPC voter to like it, but sub-5 is just wrong.
Great shot! |

Butcher Bird's Handiworkby AmmieComment: Yet another example of a really good shot getting hammered because the voters are squeamish about the subect matter. Sorry about that! I gave this a 9 and reckon it should have finished at least a full point higher. |

Fun in the Sunby scarbrdComment: Epic use of the available light. I really hope that this is doing as well as it should be. |

What I Saw In My Dreamby Luci11eComment: I think that this did not do nearly as well as it deserved. Funny enough, I also accidentally over-exposed this month and liked it so much that I put it into the FS also. Great shots can come from accidents - don't let the voters put you off trying this sort of stuff! Sometimes Often they have little taste... |
