The Promise of Breadby brownsmComment: Excellent monochrome. Great composition and lighting (maybe a little too dark towards the top?) but certainly one of the strongest of the challenge. |

Simply Slicedby tfarrell23Comment: Nice, simple composition and good DoF, but I anticipate you losing marks on the border. |

Mtn Goat in the Elkhornsby XukoComment: At first I wondered whether the goat was really in focus - I think it is but it really needs to pop out at us a little bit more (some USM would do the trick if applied well) and the image is a little bit lacking in contrast. It would make a terrific B&W I reckon (in fact, if you'd like me to have a play then do send me over a larger version though I can't claim to be an expert!). You've captured real energy here and the bokeh is nice too :) |

pirouetteby krnodilComment: For each of these photos I've commented on, I've loaded the photo and tried to guess the score. 9 out of 10 times I'm pretty much spot on, but here I was miles out. I just don't understand the score. The IR is subtle and the conversion superb. The DoF is done to absolute perfection. And it really is dance-like. Somehow. Wonderful shot and I'd just ignore the voters! |

Tatt Meby ingridblueComment: I really like the processing on this. I think the reasons for the low-ish score have been pretty much covered, but well done for submitting something a little different. |

Fairy Dustby JuliBocComment: I appreciate your frustration with this one - this shot clearly speaks to you a lot but the voters just see an OOF figurine and click the 'tank' button. It will have been the shutter speed that has caused this - I never shoot under 1/80 on my 50mm with my slightly shaky hands! As has been mentioned before, the border, though it works well with the colour scheme, is a bit too garish for most tastes (including mine if I'm honest). The important thing is that you keep submitting what means the most to you. With a bit of luck, someone else will feel the same way! |

May the Circle be Unbrokenby purpleflutterby13Comment: I was scratching my head trying to work out what you did here - the zoom works very well and the colours are gorgeous. The lack of a single main subject has probably lost you marks, but I prefer the overall effect! |

Sunset Stormby WildcardComment: Great sky, but I'm finding the clouds lacking in focus and clarity - I don't know whether this is down to the original image or the quality of the conversion. I wonder if it's even necessary to have some land towards the bottom - it's easily missable and looks more like an afterthought - I'd say you could do with a little more. This would help draw our attention to the sunset itself, which is the main focal point of the image anyway. You'd lose some of that amazing sky, of course, but with a wider lens you'd be able to keep it! |
