European starling

European starling

Comment:
This starling looks cold. Nice sharp focus however I feel the image could improve with the use of slightly wider DOF, to gain a bit of definition in the background and add context as well as a bit more sparkle in the eye.

Now he's a poser. The background is blurred just enough to keep the shape but not detract from your subject. The bright dot just above his right ear is a bit distracting though.

dimes

Comment:
Good concept though the dime in focus is too central (for me) and shooting straight into the lines of dimes makes the image quite static. If the lines of dimes were on the diagonal and the dime in focus were in the upper right corner I think the image would be much more dynamic.

Good idea for a still life however the forground subject is too close to the backdrop producing a background that is not quite out of focus enough. The wrinkles on the backdrop are quite distracting.

Nice mix of shapes and colour. I like the idea of the reflection in the spoon however I feel it needs to be sharper to give the image more impact.

Your forground subject is nice and sharp however I feel that the DOF is slightly too shallow. Also, the bright dots around the background glasses are a bit distracting.

Nicely done, though I think just a little more DOF (to give more detail to the background) would make it even better.

This subject can work well however, in order to do so I think the DOF needs to be less shallow to give more definition to the background.

The chosen DOF seems to work with this image. Just enough of the head is in focus.

Good idea and the OOF background has some nice colours and shapes. I think the image would have more impact if the foreground can tab were also in focus. Just a little more DOF.
