In The Beginning...by jrjrComment: Noise isn't all that attractive especially when applied to the extreme. One way to make it more pleasing is to copy the background layer, apply a Gaussian blur and then blend the layers with colour. This converts the noise to black and white making it more like film grain.
Applying a little less noise and using the Gaussian blur technique could have made this image work. As it is I feel it's been over done. |

Guiding Lightby gsalComment: As the eye is led to the cross at the top I think it may work better as a vertical composition with a little more space above the cross. |

Forgotten Bicycleby JeniYComment: Good choice of subject however the border distracts as it is brighter than most of the image. |

Playing Against the Grainby JohnTFComment: Though I like this image and the grain seems to work well, the two different hands, one old, one young, makes the image feel out of balance. |

I Remember When She Diedby pumaComment: The grain works very well with your image however I feel that the border is quite distracting since it is brighter than any other part of the image. |

Contaigous Smileby idnicComment: Very cute portrait. A more subtle application of grain I think would have worked better. |

Out of here by heidaComment: The idea is good and the centered person seems to work. Ease up on the grain though. |

Telephoneby MichaelCComment: Cool shot. Great exageration of camera shake. One thing though, the bottom left corner feels a little empty. |

treeby visaksenComment: Compositionally I think you've done well, lining the drum and tree up on the diagonal to add depth. However, the horizon is slightly tilted to the left and the angle of the beach is a bit distracting. Maybe cropped a little too tight on top.
Just an opinion though.
Keep shooting. |
