Terrific sky. I didn't know Ansel Adams was alive and well and was a member of DPC ;-)

What are we looking at him through? Or is it a mirror? In any case, the natural framing you've given him adds to the sense of separation from him, as if if we are looking on him from somewhere else in space and time. Perfect title for the shot.

A nice title (I should recognise the quote but I'm afraid I don't) and fits the plight of these brave men and women perfectly. There is a combination of natural trepidation but resoluteness in your subjects, particularly the main focal point of the young man second from the right. I like the way you've shot them from the side, giving the photo physical depth to go with the emotional depth in the shot.

Very well done. One of my top picks for the challenge. in fact a 10 from me.

lovely B&W scene. I like that the jetty and trees in top right and bottom left frame the corners of the image.

Excellent detail on her face, very candid. I trust you've entered this shot with her blessing? ;-)

beautiful DOF and the details on the in-focus area are spot on. It's stare is haunting.

it's a lovely scene. I don't know what it is about the flowers to the right of the deer but I'm not keen on them.

On a side note, I expect you'll be looking forward to the photographic opportunities you'll get with rutting season soon.

I like that you made one horse the main focal point, adding a bit of foreground interest to the shot.

Beautiful use of soft focus. Has the wind caught its tail? I also love the greens (saturated just right IMO) and the sharpness through the grasses. You were very unlucky not to get a ribbon but you fully deserved such a high score. Well done.

rule of thirds schmule of thirds ;-)
