Your use of DOF is excellent in this case, somehow I had to view it for a minute to appreciate the broken parts...a softer light might have brought the broken areas out more.

a late afternoon shot of this would be great, it might bring out colors a little more and knock some of the over exposure from the sky

there is a lot to like about this...the colors are aged and vibrant, the angle adds to the image, the lack of a distracting background is good. It is simple, but effective

really like the subject, texture and color....my one criticism would be tha the image would benefit from a greater depth of field. I would like to "see it all" and I can't do that.
