PAW - Nice portrait. The focus is great on the face and quickly falls off to the ears. Good pose. The stuff in the background is a little distracting.

PAW - The subject is definitely the face. Very well shot, framed and lighted. Good angle, DOF, catching a fleeting expression. I like the B&W processing. I rarely do B&W but may have to give it a try some more.

PAW - Excellent picture. Funny reading the notes it looks very intentional and posed, but it was just a test shot. Nice color in the irises and very good crop, if it is cropped. I wish you could have softened the glasses shadows some. It's good to see what you look like. you don't look like a troll at all. ;-)

PAW - I like the low, wide angle. Well deserved break, and it looks like they are going over in their minds what they will be doing once the break is over.

PAW - I looks like a white yeti stepping on the nose of a seal, symbolic of white oppression of black. OK, seriously, the only thing in focus is the bare branch. I guess you either missed the bird on the branch or were trying to catch it in flight, but if you wanted it sharp you had too low a shutter speed. Assuming low light conditions you may have wanted to use a high ISO (1600) to catch it. On the other hand maybe you're just capturing an artistic shot that isn't meant to capture a true life scene. I like to snow spattering up behind the bird.

PAW - Nicely composed and good matching colors between the statue, building and trees. Are the trees really the bronze tone they look like on my monitor?

Week 4 - Fern

PAW - Very nice shot. I don't think that's a shadow below but the other half of the branch. Beautiful background bokeh. Is it really shot at f13? I guess you're really close. Quail Gardens is a great place for plant pictures. I went there one time on a "free Tuesday" before heading down to Balboa Park for "free museum Tuesday". Nice cheap shooting day other than the accident I got in when I hit traffic on the 805.

PAW - Beautiful shot. This would have been great not only in Single Tree but in the Ansel Adams challenge, well maybe in landscape mode. Did you use a CPF to get the darker sky?

Food 04 - Port and cheese

PAW - Delicious looking food, though I'm not sure what it is. Olives, cheese and other things? I'm not sure I like the pairing with the wine. It looks like two totally different things at different scale and with an abrupt border between then. I think either half alone would be better.

Greater Striped Swallow

PAW - Excellent DOF and good timing on the capture of the bird. Nice coloring on that swallow. They are much different than the barn swallows where I grew up or the swallows near here at Mission San Juan Capistrano.
